Nelson Ledges is probably the fastest 2-mile road coarse in north america (average speed is over 100mph if you''re good), but the track surface... well, the nice way of putting it is "it has character." if the WERA board can be a trusted source (and the posters seem to be in the know), the track has SOLD, and will be levelled and re-built. layout changes are possible. Probably to work around some major drainage problems they have, and hopefully avoid having to drive across the track to get to the paddock... The alleged buyer is the guy who owns the discovery channel (maybe he''s more than just an "American Chopper" bike guy?). His name escapes me. use your own Google. This is bittersweet for me. on the one hand, NL is super close, and was super cheap. And the track surface wasn''t good, but it also wasn''t as bad as most people thought. The track will likely be closed all next season :(, if not before the end of this season.

it''s about 40 miles southeast of Cleveland. i''m betting it opens LATE next summer. hopefully they don''t make too many layout changes. www.nelsonledges.com - the track map takes a while to load, but it''s worth it.

yea that track is extremly fast.... at my last race there in turn 1 you had to hit a section not more than 2 feet wide at around 100mph.... well you didn''t have to hit the 2ft wide section, you could always opt to hit the nice and slippery patching.... but i didn''t really wanna do that at 100+ and neither did any of the other riders, i really hope it gets paved cause turn 4 would just beat you to death....
