I got 8kmi on my Metzeler M3s and the tread still looks maybe 50%. Not much squaring either as I don''t do too much fwy daily. Did 2.5 track days with them (yes the last 0.5 was due to a first lap cold-tires crash). They''re ~15 months old.
Is it time to replace the rubber? They look great and all, but I''ll be back at the track and doing twisties/long rides this season. They still feel great, other than that 1st lap slip.

Opinions?

Awesome tires BTW

as long as they are not race tires you will be fine.  Just give yourself one lap of warmup for any tire new or used.

For the street, the tread wear indicators will let you know when it''s time to replace.

In my opinion, getting on the track with a set of M3''s that have 8K on them is not smart.
