here is the prob i am putting f3 motor into a f2 frame when doing this i realized that the f3 had a throttle pos sensor the f2 didnt. sence i am using the f2 wiring harness i called the honda shopp and they said that it didnt need to be hooked up so i hooked everything else up. now when i start it i cant get the idle below 2000 rpms and when i give it gas it boggs out and cuts off. so i took it up to a shop (thinking that the carbs needed to be adjusted) the guy at the shop told me that i need the throttle pos hooked up. also he told me i need a fuel pump something else my f2 did not have i was told you only need one if you have a ram air since i was using the f2 air box i did not buy one. so is there a way around this or do i need to buy a harness and ecu and just switch it to ram air with the pump. help if you can anything is better than nothing. thanks

i think you pretty much answered your own question but you dont know if your ready to shell out more money right now. think of it this way: you are basically running a f3 now. yes you will need the rest of the parts to run it THE RIGHT WAY cause it''s now a f3. you could go the long way around it but sooner than later your going to run into the issue again.

The motor did not change from 96-98. The only change was the tail set up.

Look on ebay, you''ll find all the ram air hoses, fuel pump, and air box pretty cheap.

You can run your bike without a TPS and without a fuel pump.No need to get a harness either.

If your bike bogs and shuts down, synch the carbs, change the air filter and plugs.

A fuel pump is only needed for those long pulls in 4-6th gear, wide open, with ram air.Ram air pressurizes and dries out the float bowls when you haul ass wide open in 4th to 6th gear.Fuel pump helps it out a wee-bit,keeping enough gas going to the motor.

Look at my sig line.I did the same thing with my racebike, and learned the hard way.She now runs like a dog shot in the ass!!

I''d have to agree with kjohnson. Putting an F3 motor in an F2, using the stock F2 harness, means you can drop some F3 stuff. No TPS, no fuel pump. I might run a pump anyway, since it wouldnt hurt.

ok this might be a stupid question but how do i go about sync. the carbs new to this  i already changed the plugs and a filter so it wouldnt hurt to try sync the carbs if i put the fuel pump on should i also put a ram air on or will it matter

If you use an F3 airbox, you will need the fuel pump.

If you use an F2 airbox, you will not need a fuel pump. If you are going this route,I would NOT use a fuel pump.

You Will have to still run the vacuum line from your cylinder head to the petcock.
