So... I was wondering if anyone had taken their sports bike and used it to build a cruiser??? The reason I am asking is because I am about to. I have a 95 cbr900rr that has seen better days as far as looks go. It is still mechanically sound though. I was planning on selling it and using the money to start my chopper build and now I have pretty much decided to keeping the power plant and wheels and building a chopper around it. That will save me some$$$ and I will still have tons more power than the other guys. What do you guys think??? Am I insane??? Probably but who cares... It will be a fun ride.

I remember a couple of years ago there was a pic of a R-1 style chopper floating around (photo chop). Looked cool to me.

HAHA! I just found the pic in my desk.

Yeah it does look good, as long as you don''t have to take a corner all''s well.
I don''t like cruisers to ride myself, but just a personal thing, building one up from scratch would be interesting & its a great motor to start with.

That is pretty funny. No footpegs though, you could touch your toes in front of the radiator lol

There is only one i have ever seen that i liked. Its not really a cruiser, just a custom. Its powered by a Honda 929, its called the "kneeslider"

That is simular to what I have in mind except Im not going to stretch and rake the front end out any. I wont be using the stock front end either. My main issue in the thought process right now is what to do with the ugly radiator...Any ideas??? I read about one guy who out it behind the engine and another said he put it on the bottom... I like the ideas but not really sure how well it would cool right behind the engine and I would be worried about busting it open if I out it on bottom... What do you guys think???

Leave the radiator where it is - bike WILL overheat with it anywhere else, oilcooler too.
Work around those issues.

Jesse Rooke and Roland Sands both make sexy race-inspired choppers.  Check their work for some good ideas.

Yeah their bike look good but they are kind of the oposite of what I am trying to do. They take v-twins and build racing choppers around them. They are all air cooled. Im trying to take a liquid cooled and build a chopper with it... Kind of Bassackwards... Surely you can move the radiator... If it starts getting hot I will just switch to ionized water and an inhibitor package instead of 50/50 water and antifreeze. That will drop your temp 20%.
