Hi all,

just joined the forum. Looking for some opinions... I''ve been riding a little over 3 years now, most of my miles are commuted on a CBR900 ''92 (150 mile a day roundtrip). I''ve spent a fair amount of time setting up suspension and getting this bike all sorted which it pretty much is now and I enjoy it muchly.. there''s a surprise. Last year I did a couple of track days on it too and now I decided I want something a little smaller and lighter firstly to act as a more sensible (for me) track bike and as backup for the commute. Whatever I get needs to be able to tour, scratch and commute, doesn''t need to be too radical but also not be too much of a second best to the fireblade. I''m thinking of a CBR600F and narrowed it to a F4 or F4i as either of these would be within budget for me. Currently I''m leaning towards the F4 (carbed) as they''re a tad cheaper and I like the idea of carbs and I read somewhere that they''re less thirsty and not much less feisty.

Any input much appreciated.

Hello again and thanks.

RR

hey there :-)

Welcome to the forums

I have a 1998 F3 carbed model and love it ... I have ridden a later injection cbr600f  and was non plussed .. I find the carbs on my bike together with the ram air system give such a delicious growly raw sound when you open the taps ..I also feel my bike has or feels like it has more low down and midrange than the later Fi that I tried .. maybe it''s the lack of induction noise with the non carbed later bike that made it feel somewhat antiseptic to me ...

That said I am sure if I had a go of the latest RR I would be blown away by how much quicker and lighter it would feel compared to mine ...
