justasquid -> RE: YOUR OPINION ABOUT ABS-CBS FLY BY WIRE ON CBR 1000 2009 (7/3/2008 8:14:18 AM)

I''m not sure how it would react. The wheels would have speed sensors.. If one is spinning faster than the other when the brakes are applied... I think it will kick in and out. But they might have an off switch too. I dont care for the fly by wire. I dont see any benifit from it at all. How does a cable weigh? not much.. how much does the fly by wire weigh? more than the cable. I worked in Research and Development for a similar control. It was for a car, but it was basically fly by wire. We had so many problems with them. They will never be as fast as a cable. there will always be a delay in response. It may not be much, and you might get used to it, but there will be some delay. There were certain benifits on the car, but I don''t see any for bike. The thing I don''t like is this. We buy bare bones high horsepower machines because they are fun.. You can interact and become one with the machine. If the machine does more and more for you..... where does that leave the driving experience? I guess I''m old school in a sense. I like fuel injection, radial mounted brakes, light weight bikes..ect. But, the more you disconnect the rider from the bike, the riding experience is going to suffer. I like the fact that it takes a certain skill to ride these bikes. Making these bikes so tame that anyone can ride them... takes something away from them. Well, I think I am starting to see why those old geizers on the mid 60''s bikes think their bikes are the best.. I can see myself in the same situation 20 years from now....lol
