bad rattle from the starter clutch after a kickback during start, how hard is it to split the bottom case and change the clutch ? Anyone got a ''How To'' put together ? Thanks

just found the starter clutch, on the alternator parts blowup, So is it maybe I can pull the alternator to change this ? Gotta be an easier way than splitting the case !

The only guy I know who has been able to repair his starter clutch without splitting the casings is KASKA. He did a write-up on removing his stator unit, and tells you how. PM him or look through his posts, may save you a LOAD of work ! You may have just messed up the tensioner.............?

Are you sure it''s the starter clutch. After a big kickback it''s normally the tensioner that goes. That means split the cases.

no not sure for definite of starter clutch, have not disassembled anything yet. Definite the sound is coming from between starter and alternator in the top part of case, by using stethiscope. With further research found the writeup of Vulcanman and how he turned bike on its side, I may give that a shot when I get a day off, right now working 7 days a wk 10 hrs a day.
