Thanks guys, I will change the T-stat and drain and flush the coolant when I get a chance (and double check the fuses although I am sure they are fine). I will let you guys know if that solves the problem.

Oh, emperor wurm, the bike only has 11,000 km on it. 7,000 miles?

I''m not sure its the same on an f3, but first replace the coolant and make sure its topped off.  Next, check thermostat (put in a pan of water and turn the heat on and watch to make sure it opens (no metal to metal contact though).  Check temp gauge.  For me it was so bad I had to crack the block open to remove all the carbon from the piston and chambers and that did it.  Good luck

Update so far.....I did a coolant flush and changed the coolant, burped the system. Unfortunatly the easy fix did not work, the bike almost overheated today in traffic (only 17 degree C outside so pretty cool). I now have a thermostat on order, hopefully that will solve the problem. I am now assuming that the thermostat on the bike is jammed shut....although that seems odd on a bike with only 11,000 km''s.
