Well I have an 06 it''''s paid off-has a slip-on, power commander, went two teeth in the back, speedo healer, flush mounts, undertail, double bubble, and a crash cage.

No offense but those mods don''t mean squat when comparing the 06 to the 08.  Put in terms of four wheeled vehicles, the 06 handles like a Ford crown victoria and the 08 handles like a Chevy Corvette.

Was just pondering if the 08 was that great - my bike dynoed 153hp and I''''ve seen dyno sheets of 08''''s with slip-ons doing the same so besides weight (or feeling) I cant see the trade being worth it.

It is if how a bike handles is what is most important to you.  If bench racing at Starbucks is your thing it most certainly won''t be worth it.  The reduced weight in combination with the change in geometry is what is so good about the 08.  The 06 is no where near to being in the same league as the 08 when it comes to handling.

I doubt I would get a good trade in price-or deal on a new one

You probably wouldn''t.  Bikes don''t generally have a good resale and those with mods have even less.

Can''t say its worth paying another 11,000 +mods- no curves in florida anyways, handlings over rated on the street.

ummm how is the difference 11000? if you say there are no curves in florida then you have clearly never been here. handling over rated on the street? WOW that is a very narrow minded comment. where do you need it more, where someone is making a left in front of you and a pot hole ahead or on a track where you will never be?

08 1000RR is 10,999 plus dealer fees, tax, tag, and finace charges puts you well over 11,000 for a new bike then add the cash for any mods you may want to do. When I was in tampa it was pretty straight and flat so? The closest track is 200 miles from where I am, and acting like a track rider on the street will just get you ****ed up sooner or later. And if someone is making a left turn in front of you-slow down let them turn and then you''ll see the pot hole, don''t need to be very track focused to do that. If you want to ride like a squid on the street that extra handling may be worth it if your around long enough to enjoy it, make a mistake on the track aleast it won''t be in front of a truck-If you really do track days. Yeah, and I do know the 1000RR is race ready and designed for the track.

I wasn''t comparing the two I just implied that having my 06 and paying it off and having spent extra money on modifications it would not be worth it to me to try and sell my bike or trade it in and take on the added debt for just the lastest and greated thats all I started this thread for, to get feedback on the new bike and find out if anyone though that yes indeed the new 08 is that great and worth getting but this whole thread has gotten ****ed up because everyone takes everything out of context or interpret it differently to say the least. No offense to anyone hopefully.

My unasked for 2 cents.

Handling is pretty important actually. Whether you ride twisties or not, it just inspires confidence and more comfortable feeling.

Never rode an 08 though

I must say the CBR 1000 2006 is faster than the 2008, has more power even do 2008 has a better engine, is amazing but is so true!

2008 is more luxury than 2006. The CBR 1000 2006, has more power in the run, you feel safe while you driving it, it offers you stability in the highway, with an engine tipe of 599CC and four cylinder and a fantastic transmition of six speeds, amazing right? While the 2008 brings an engine of  990 CC and a gain transmition sounds more powerful but is not!

Could someone translate this to american?.........

Certainly, what he is basically saying, he was the 2006 fireblade prefer the 2008 version. 2006, it was great!

Of course, what he says is that is trying to, although in 2008 it is a fine machine has its own right, he liked the features of 2006.

The above responses, though humorous sounding  were actually generated using the Google automated language translator as this gentleman apparently also has done. The sentences typed in were originally coherent as I am sure his was in his original langauge. The Google translations almost always fail to convey the intent of the original message and the grammar really sucks! That''''s why real live language translators get paid the big bucks.

I had to debate between the 08 and the 06. almost bought the 08 here is what I read and my decision. Here is what I was told from a few people who have both the 06 and the 08. 06-07 = better street bike, 08= better track bike. they said that any decent rider can get on an 08 and do better at the track but the 06-07 behave better than the 08''s on the street.... My decision and Why. I traded in my 929, I almost signed on the 08 but didnt because the 06 looked better to me, the 06 had Hotbodie Flushmounts, Tinted windscreen, slip on, frame sliders, tank pad, and aftermarket passanger seat. They didnt have the 08 in the color I wanted, and I would have put exhaust and all of the above on it, it would have cost 2100 more, and the wife wasnt comfortable  with her job situation so Iwent with the 06 and I love it, and it turns out Im the one who got demoted for a bullshit reason on friday so Im glad I went with the lower payment

Demotions suck

I''ll concede that the 08 is better overall, but I''m sticking with my 06.  It''s still an awesome ride!
