Hey, I have had a 2000 R6 and now a 2001 F4i.  First, please remember to compare apples to apples as far as age and mileage.

To compare, the R6 is more aggressive and feels smaller/lighter than the F4i, but not as solid.  The F4i is a solid bike that requires very little mtnce.  My bike has over 20K on it now and runs like new.

The CCTL is not an issue really, it''s a $60 part and is more annoying than damaging... not sure what Electrical and Fuel issues you are referring to, but every bike has similar problems.

Everyone was bitching about the "2nd gear" issue on the R6 when I had mine, although I never experienced it.  Basically 2nd gear was going out on a lot of bikes and people were getting pissed at Yamaha.

The way the two bikes look is pretty different and the F4i looks antiquated to me, but that''s all personal preference.

yea that is one thing i liked about my r6 (mine was a 2004) is it was very easy to throw around. how do u mean by solid? i know its a bit bulkier but as far as handling how hard would it be to maneuver out of lets say a road debris sitution or somethin that requires you to throw your bike out of the way real quick. btw im looking at an 01-02 f4i not the newer ones.

I think you can maneuver both the same in any situation once you are used to the bike.  It''s hard to describe, but I feel like you can hardly tell the bike is there when you are on the R6, it feels like you are one with the bike.  I don''t get that feeling so much with the F4i.  By solid, I mean the F4i feels bigger/heaver/smoother... like when you shut the car door on a really nice car compared to a cheap one.

Well lets try it this way.....Are u looking for a great bike thats comfortable, fun and handles very good. Or are u looking for a bike thats uncomfortable as fux, fast, and handles like chit (until you get a steering damper).....OK now thats the F4i compared to RR''s and those little Slozuki Gixxers (Fixxers, as i like to call them)......I have an 03 954RR and my ole lady as an 01 F4i......IMO, i can have 4x''s as much fun on her F4i (with my experience on the 1K''s). Because i know the 600 is more than enough bike for 90% of the people that ride streets. And i know the F4i is comfortable as hell and handles just as good as my 954RR does with a Scotts damper............So now i guess its all in what you want.....=-)

PS: If u wanna be like everybody and their momma, go buy a Gixxer, LMAO....=-)

yea right the reason i went with the R6 (before 2006) was because no one around here had them, it was all about the gixxer which it still is. i would rather not ride a bike then ride a gsxr lol. but yea i will defiantly be keeping my eyes peeled for an f4i in the near future when i get the funds for it, cant beat the prices i see them as low as 3k

dude screw yamaha they have so many problems! the 03-05 r6 has much bigger problems than the f4i. i''ve owned both too. performance wise, i''d probably go for the r6...but if i had to choose i''d pick the f4i hands down.

I think Yamaha also makes or recently made a R6S based on a previous generation R6 (but I could be wrong) that had pretty good ergos.

My 03 F4i is extremely comfortable. the R6s is based off the 04 R6 and they brought it back because it was so popular and a bit less aggressive as their new ones. Yet, its still more aggressive than my F4i. You cant go wrong with it. there are plenty of ways to get that little extra kick in Hp if you need it

The 1st sportbike I rode was an R6 something like 01 model.  Someone said something about forgetting the bike is there on the Yamaha: I thought I was the only one who felt that way.  It throws around like a BMX and for me, for the street I would likely do things that I would''ve thought a second time about (dangerous).

Once getting the F4i dialed, there is nothing it doesn''t do well.  It doesn''t do anything superb per se, but it doesn''t do anything wrong either.

There are many times I''ve done stupid things and gotten away with them that I know on another bike I would have eaten asphalt.

If I were racing Supersport, I''d probably go Yamaha, but I recall on a trackday eating a late model (maybe 04-05) R6 alive on the front straight and it wasn''t because of better drive or more bravado (don''t ask me how, I''m just as confused as you).

For the street, I don''t think you can beat a Honda, but at the end of the day, buy what makes you feel good.

I wouldn''''t knock any of the "big 4" 600''''s because they are so similar... after all, they are built to compete in super sport races.  Out of all the bikes I have ever owned, the R6 is the one I wish I still had, but it was never the same after it did a couple flips at Summit Point.

Look the good part about the f4i is you can make it whatver you want very easily. you can rip it, you can carve with it, you can stunt it, you can cruise it, you could even throw some bags on it and take a trip if thats your deal. its a solid all around good bike. Thats jus not the Honda in me speaking , i have bumped around on a few other bikes as sad as that is .

Yeah, it had already been crashed on the track a few times and computracked before I bought it (still had a highspeed wobble at 120mph that would make you crap your pants)... I sold it as a track bike to a NESBA member, gave up the track for a while, and bought an SV650.

I think computrack guarantees their work.  Oh well.  I guess you wouldn''t endorse their services, huh? (since you''re the only one I know that has a computracked bike)
