Hey there!

This is my first post on here, and I was wondering how reliable these bikes are? I have been looking around to get a first bike and I came across a 94 CBR 600. The guy lives about 45 min from me.

Here is his discription....1994 Honda CBR600,Good condition 16,000 miles, recent tune up, new sparks plugs and new battery. Two Bros exhaust $3,200 or reasonable offer. $3200

Would offering him 2500 be lowballin him to much? Does this seem like a decent price?

Sorry about all of the questions I just would rather ask some guys and gals that have been around/ own one or two who knows lol....

Thanks a ton!

Michael

I haven''t seen it in person yet, I just found it online tonight. I sent the guy a email and if he doesn''t respond by tomorrow night I will give him a call. I wil prolly have one of my buddies that knows a little more about bikes than I. Just your usual checks on it, clutch slipping, ride it hard to make sure no weird noises or it jumping out of gear. I will prolly go see it this weekend.

I would definately take it for a spin first, you never know what you are buying especially if you havent seen it in person. If the guy refuses to let you take it for a ride or even start it up, then tell the guy to &%@# himself.

Do you have any riding experiance? If not then NO. if you grew up around motorcycles and dirtbikes then maybe. i would say 25 is a fair offer but then again mine was a steal with 7200 miles for only two thousand in great shape (same year)

$3200 sounds high to me. I''d start at around $2200-2500 if everything checks out good. Check the tires really good. Check how much back tire is left and also look at the edges of the tread as well. It may give you a clue as to how it was ridden before. Also see if he has service records for it. Good luck.

$2500 is a good offer. I have heard people say to start off on something like a Ninja 250...but I think that''s crap. I think it''s a great first bike if you''re not an idiot.

I have driven dirtbikes, grew up on 4 wheelers and snowmobiles, I have a 330 rwhp Camaro. I know these things have power. I think anyone can start on a 1000 if they respect the bike. I dont plan on driving this thing like an idiot, I know my limits and how to respect it.

On another note, the guy emailed me back, sent me a different picture. Looks very clean, going to have my buddy come with me and drive it for me on acount that I dont have my license and he will know if somethings wrong with it before I will. What else should I have him look out for?

Thanks!

She sent me a picture of the other side. If I get approved for the loan (which I will find out today) I am going to go check it out. What else should I have my buddy look out for while he is driving it? What should I look for?

Computer is being retarded so I am going to have to wait until I am on the laptop to put the other pic up

These bikes are pretty sound mechanically. Find out about the service record...when/if the valve clearance has been checked etc. But buying a new bike the ONE thing I look for is motion scrapes, if it was layed down. Not just the plastics, those can be replaced easy, check the bar ends, pegs, frame, covers, etc. for motion scrapes or any sign that it was ever laid down at speed. Looks like from that pic that there are no OEM graphics on the tail...was it damaged at one time? how? Just things I would look for and ask...maybe not deal breakers, but certainly price negotiators!

Update!

I went to check it out today. Asked the people as much as I could about it. The things my buddy noticed was the back tire needing to be replaced soon, and he was wondering if it was jetted after the 2bros exhaust. The owner wasn''t sure if it was jetted or not, he bought it with the pipe on it. Other than that the thing checked out good, it has a little crack on one of the plastics and a few nicks here and there but looks like it was well maintained.

The biggest thing that bothered me is the bike is PURPLE! ugh....purple yellow and black, so all of the blue you see in the pics is purple. O well I guess its good that I almost have my auto body repair degree.

I will get some more pics up here later today.

I offered them 2500, they said that I need to call them tomorrow morning that they wanted to discuss it. Hope they take the offer!

Man, I could have told you it was purple! My bike was that original color scheme as well. Alot of guys think that''s the best color scheme of the F2s.
