ORIGINAL: MarkR I can''''t do it with thongs or slippers, boots ok, havn''''t try runners. I need to have boots or work shoes on, something with a hard sole. I''m still a little leary each time I do it, even after all this time. It''s the only time I actually realize how heavy the bike is......

ORIGINAL: bicklebok Can any of you get your bike on the center stand by yourself? I know there is a technique and I have practiced on my smaller bike and can now put it on the center stand by myself. It weighs 480 lbs. My brother can now put his FZ1 on the center stand alone with ease. But, I just cant do it with the Hurricane yet. Is it possible? Aside from all the usual clues mentioned before ... you can always park her on a very slight uphill angle .. that helps heaps if you are not 6-1 and 215 lbs :-)

mark R, I havent tried it yet. I need a spotter!! My twin brother is coming down from Atlanta on his FZ1 this weekend and I will give it a shot then. We have never been riding together before, so I look forward to some fun riding. Besides the center stand, I will be able to tell you how the match up went between the 2 bikes!

I don''t know which bike is faster, but I think, the FZ1 has more power (110kw) and weights 50k lighter. before seeing which bike is faster, pull one of his leads off.

Mark R, I think all odds are against me taking the FZ1, but Im sure I will be respectable. he will be here tonight, so by tomorrow we will know!! We have been picking on each other for a couple of months since he bought the bike, but he lives 180 miles away and this will be our first time riding together since he bought it. Will have a good time, rain or shine! Maybe I will at least have the centerstand mastered before he leave.

i have a 1995cbr1000f, i weigh 135 lbs and am about 5foot 10inches, and i can also do it solo. although i have to make the handle bars strait, then i take my left hand and grab the frame under the seat, my right hand goes on the rear spoiler, my left foot on the center stand, then push down with your leg at the same time you pull up and back on the bike, should pop right up, and i do it on my smooth garage floor(with sneakers, lol). if i can do it anyone can. i also leave my side stand down while i do this just for added insurance, then put it up after the bike is on the center stand. good luck let me know how you make out.

I did it with ease!! Thanks for all the tips guys. Its definitely technique. If you guys would have seen me wrestling with the centerstand on my little 750 cruiser before i learned how to do it, you would have got a big laugh! I remember taking about 10 minutes, out of breath, bike nearly falling several times, before i got it on the centerstand. I can do both bikes with ease now. Now, for the duel with the FZ1 today!!
