Here is a great instrument which provide good help in tuning the bike. http://www.autometer.com/cat_gaugedetail.aspx?gid=3604&sid=11 These items are relatively cheap on ebay stores.

The basic principle for tuning a carbed bike is:
1. Adjust the float levels per spec.
2. Select main jets so the A/F ration is about 13 to 1 at wide open throttle under load
3. Adjust the height of the needles so the midrange A/F-ratio is about 13 to 1 under load
4. Adjust the pilot jets so the bike responds nicely from idle and up to a few 1000 rpm''s

Here is one on ebay, there is plenty of them http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AUTOMETER-ULTRA-LITE-WIDEBAND-AIR-FUEL-RATIO-KIT-4378_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ46100QQihZ016QQitemZ260278180264QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

The installation appears to be quite simple. You need to weld a M18*1.5 nut on the collector, which will hold the included Bosch Wide Band O2-sensor. This stud is already in place on later FI-bikes. Then it is just to interconnect the gauge to the O2-sensor (Lambda probe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxygen_sensor), plus 12V and ground.

My unit was sent from US this evening, I''ll report my findings when it is installed. I guess it will take a week or so for getting it to Sweden.

awesome.   I am much interested in hearing how it works for you.  I know mine is out of tune and needs some adjusting.  This instrument sounds like a godsend.

Very cool, keep us posted. I''m sure it will be much more time consuming to tune a carbureted bike than a FI bike. Much easier to change a program than to replace or shim needles, swap out jets, and things such as this. But still worth looking at.

The meter is in place and works as expected :-)

The O2 sensor (wideband lambda) is screwed into a threaded stud, which is welded to the collector. I thougt it would be difficult to drill a 20 mm hole in the stainless steel tube, but it was easy with a 15 buck HSS conical drill.
