Hi,
New to this site.  Wondering what the top end is on a 2006 600 F4 that is stock?  Haven''t dare try to find out around town.   And if I go one up on the front sprocket how much more top end do you think I would get?  Was thinking about running it at Bonneville speed week and would like to make the 130 club with minimal changes to the bike.

Thanks for any advice.

well.....it goes 130....from what I have read there is a lot of wheel spin on the salt....

theoretically bone stock gearing and all, the f4i tops at 172.......

I have been into the 140''s

now i have a pc, -1+2, k&n, and barnett clutch, with a friends speedohealer-160-165mph.

I pegged mine once. Straight freeway I was familiar with, no traffic, or turns, etc. Got lucky on the no traffic part. Anyways, pegged and held until it just wouldn''t go any further... I got 159mph. Couldnt break 160 to save my life. I was pegged. But F4i''s have fairly accurate speedo''s I think, and I''d wager my 159 was real close to what it was really doing. I''d also poiint out I weigh in about 220. And 6''4". I''d imagine a smaller guy could get a little more out of her.

I know quite a few people I''ve been runnin with and we''ll be messing around, I''m showing 130, and they''ll swear we were doing 155.... I know suzuki''s got very off speedo''s, and 600rr''s too. but I think I remember reading somewhere when F4is were the it Honda 600, and in a comparo of al the 600''s, that the Honda not only had the most accurate speedo, but was damn near perfectly correct.

On a side note, if you''re gonna go up one up front, you are gonna have a lot of lag down low. Since changing sprocket anyways, do a 520 conversion and it''ll help offset that by quite a bit actually. I did a 520 conversion on mine, but couldnt find a steel 46t rear (wanted steel cause my 600 is my commute bike, and work is 60 miles away, so longevity was a factor) so ended up with a 45t. But even going down one out back, with the 520 conversion, bike still pulls harder off line and everwhere else than it did with the 525 chain and 46t.

Thanks!  Correct just don''t know how much traction you''ll lose on the salt, and if upping a tooth would be necessary.  It is a 1 mile track.  Wouldn''t think so but they indicate if the track deteiorates alot it is comparing to driving on wet roads or ice.  Would prefer to keep it stock for this but would like to make the 130 passes.

Bike will do 130 passes stock no prob. On a real road. Can''t comment on salt. I mean, people do it all the time, so must be ok. But would guess it''ll feel a little uneasy at first. That''s just guess from shows I have watched of peoples first time on salt.

A stock bike will hit 130 easily.

.........sure.......top speed on a bone stock f3 is 150-160.......I remember it was tested by a couple magazines back in the 90''s sometime....there is no way.....

I went 145 full tuck at about half throttle. I know it doesn''t sound right, but I wasn''t going for a top speed I just wanted to get somewhere fast. I went full tuck and left it in 6th from about 60mph, next thing I knew I looked down and saw 145mph and let off. I was seriously only at about half throttle. So speedo is off about ten percent. So 130mph. But I was rocking from about 6k and not even trying to go fast. Some say that the 01 F4i is the most powerful though. I don''t doubt that I can hit mid to high 150s (real speed).

Im curious....Since when does the top end of a bike matter. I myself spend more time from 0-80MPH than i do anything else. Are you saying you would spend more time from 100-170mph...Why is the top speed so important if you are RARELY going to see it...=-)

Make some 0-60mph improvements, fux the top end....=-)

Be a responsible rider and not an irresponsible dumbazz.........=-)

PS: The bike will go faster than anyone should go on a public street......Why in the world would you want to outride your line of vision...When you start outriding everything you see (means you run over or run past an object, faster than brain eyes can tell your brain that the object is there)....Basically you can NOT stop the bike fast enough to NOT hit an object at that high rate of speeds.........=-)

Sorry if anyone thinks this is FLAMING........But its all TRUE.....=-)

to those who THINK they did 170+ on a 600 need to lay off the crack. Especially those with -1/+2 gearing, aint happening. 130 is no problem even with lower gearing tho.
