08 shifter - 8/23/2008 2:43:56 PM    LIM118469   Posts: 58 Joined: 10/23/2007 Status: offline on my 08 1000rr i have noticed that the shaft (maybe called counter shaft not sure) that goes from the shifter linkage to the inside of the the transmisson has about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch horizontal play in it. when it is pulled fully outward i can engage all the gears and everything is normal, however i can also push the shaft inwards toward the center of the bike and this disengages the shifter and i can''t get any gears.  does anyone know if the is some kind of built in feature or do i maybe have some type of inner retainer ring that maybe broke allowing the shaft to slide. (it does not slide on it''s own, i have to push and pull on it to make it move). does anyone else''s 08 do this? thanks Post #: 1
