97 for $750.00 2600 orig miles hasent been riden seince 98, guy bought it rode it dropped it in grass, got scared, never rode again, sat in garage. Sold plastics to pay off loan.  Someone bought it off him in 06, attempted to fix, gave up on carb rebuild, sat for another 2 years till I bought it 2 weeks ago. Rust in tank (now fixed with POR-15) used carb bought from ebay, ready to start for first time tomorrow.

Damn, you are a lucky man, sounds like a great deal! Although if it had gas in it the whole time I would be worried about the gas lines and/or the pump also. First post!

Almost same scenario... 1998 Smokin Joe Edition; 6xxx miles on her for $600 last Feb.... not riden since 99 (99 registration sticker still on license plate). Needs side plastics and front fender. It wasn''t running but got it in tip top mechanical condition in a month (full tune-up, new battery, tires, sync carbs etc). Engine is really strong. Brake lines, coolant hoses and misc. in excellent condition.
Good luck!

Nick.

I traded a 92 honda civic EX 4dr with 130k, bad panels/clutch/brakes etc for my 96 f3 with no plastics. 13k miles. dropped bad once. good title/straight frame, DD exhaust and a racing clutch.

Texranger, you are SO lucky, I got my smokin joes about 2-3 weeks ago (time flies when you''re goin too fast) and paid $2750, after seeing all these prices, I feel like I got ripped off. It has a D&D on it, and K&N air filter and racing spark plugs, but still, with 28k miles, idk

I bought mine earlier this year for $1,500. After we sealed the deal, the seller had 4 people call and offer him $2,000 unseen. I painted flat black over all the purple. I might sell it soon... after a series of 1100s and 1200s, it''s kind of hard to step down to a 600. The only fun seems to start at about 10,000 RPMs. It''s a solid bike, though, and easy to maintain.
