I have to use jumper cables to pop it off...It does need a new battery, but the bike starts right up...idels fine but when I hit it from like 5-8 grand it''s really sluggish, after that it revs great.I guess my question is could it be all battery?By the way there is No rattling or noise at all just like almost wants to stop revving then continues like nothing happend past 8,000 or so.

Thanks Mike

I could be wrong but if the bike has been warmed up a bit and is already running I dont think sluggish rpm''s would be from the battery.

The only reason I ask is because my guages and odometer are blinking around...Showing signs that it''s getting weak power but still cranks fine.

cranks fine = battery good
electrical problems while running = better take a look at the stator. if it was just the engine acting goofy I''d say it was ignition, still could be but with the other components acting up it''s probably a stator issue.

remember, when a car or bike or whatever is running the battery is simply getting charged by an alternate source....ie alternator/stator. a car/bike recieves all of its electricity from this device. you can start a car and take the battery completely out while it''s running and it won''t do anything.

I finally got her to rev just fine!
I did notice that the guages are still doin the same thing looks like a dimming blink.
Thanks for your reply and I do happen to have another engine....do you think it''s worth pulling the stator and changing or what would be an easy way of checking my volts?
Much Thanks Mike

the fan wont come on unless your warming your bike up for like 10 minutes....i think it kicks on at around 260 F.

Well I let it sit there and warm up for a couple of minutes....untill the temp was right in the middel of the guauge then I hit it a few time and it never kicked on so I killed it.I didn''t want to overheat it sitting there and blow a head gasket or something even worse.

What kind of voltage should I be reading if my rectifier or my stator isn''t bad?

Much Thanks Mike

I am going to check the voltage this evening when I get a chance.Another question is that I do not have a "Front Wire Harness"....for the Headlight right now,is there any main essentials that also run through that same Front harness?

i think its just ignition, lights, dash, and maybe radiator...not to sure though....theres only one way to find out! your bike is not going to over heat.....just keep your eye on the temp gauge. If it gets to red kill it...

I just thought about this....I let my bike run for like 5mins. earlier and as soon as I kill it.
I can turn my key on and it won''t even try to give it a bump to start....Just thinking that my
Stator might not be working after all.I''d say that would be a good sign of it huh?
Thanks Again Mike
