So what would you guys have done in my shoes?

Um, probably would have gotten frustrated at yet another slow-moving van...which means backing off their tail, then I''d grumble some more about how much I hope they ****ing pull over to get some frigging ice cream...and then I would have been so happy when they did!

It''s important for me to not create a situation, which is what it sounds like you entered. As much as you say you hate stupid drivers and what not, it seems like you enjoy confrontation. I''ll bet my million, zillion, trillion dollars I''m getting from Voodoo, that you are at least 51% guilty 99% of the time, in creating a situation.

well not me thats for sure, a vehicle ranging any where from 2500lbs on up to a Big Rig weighin in around 60,000lbs vs my little 410lb bike + my fat ass around 230 just does''nt seem very fair so kickin somebodys mirror off or bustin out a window kinda makes it all moot.  No matter how it all seems unfair that we get picked on or somebody trys to run us over, your not gona win.... your gona look like a nut job on a "Rice Burner" who just got run down by a car or a truck

sometimes the middle finger isnt enough. For instance i was riding with a friend down a windy road that goes along the river. This van in front of us is doing 50mph in a 55.  So we ride a couple car lengths behind to pass.  The van pulls into the turning lane with no turn signal, as i begin to drive by the van pulls back over and almost hits me i had to crack the throttle to not get side swiipe.  So um all pissed off.  So acouple miles down my buddy and i pull over at a local ice cream/biker hangout.  Sure enough this van pulls in.  Um still pissed off.  So right as they get out of the van.  Um in there face.  Husband and wife about 50years old.  I got in there face and asked why the hell they almost swerved over and hit us?  U were speeding they said.  WTF does that have to do with anything.  U r not even observant at under the speed limit and u almost side swiped me and didnt use ur turn signal u dumbfuck.  So they start to ignore me. They even go up to order icecream and turn there backs to me.  I got right up in there faces and cussed and bitch them the **** out right in front of probably 15people there waiting for icecream.  They alll looked at me like i was going to pull a gun.

Now somebody tell me you would just give them the finger and laugh it off.  They just put my life endanger by a couple feet and could of ruined my buddys day to if i would of got hit.  I know they seen us because we road behind them for a mile.

So what would you guys have done in my shoes?

What I always have done.  Make sure the van was really going to turn before pulling up beside it.  If I had been beside it when the driver decided not to turn and pulled back toward me I''d drift away from it while using throttle or brakes to get out of it''s way.  Then I''d shake my head, and say, "Phoo, that was close," (along with perhaps a comment as to the driver''s abilities) and continue on my way glad that I wasn''t a spot on the road.  Had they pulled in at the same ice cream stand, I''d have treated them as any other person there - politely.  Who knows, they might even apologize to me.  Most who have done similar to me and have had the chance have done so, as I have to those I have cut off inadvertantly.

if it really grinds your gears that bad to have a personal vendetta enough to rant and rave when you get home on some message board then I suggest you hang up your helmet and sell your bike.

and whoever said the thing about ramming a rubber fist up someone''s ass...that shit was funny as hell. I''m sure you''d like to ram a rubber fist up a dude''s ass...I kid I kid but damn that was funny

Something my wife has taught me (which I have not mastered) is...it takes so much of your energy to be pissed.  Being angry/punching off mirrors is alot of work.  You gain weeks, months, years back onto your life by letting shit go (like 51 said).  If you can take a look at the situation from like 30,000 feet, you would see that losing your mind at someone is not necessary.

I can''t tell you how much easier that is...let''s all be safe out there!

50 commandments of a motorcycle rider? to be reviewed each year.

http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/howto/122_0608_50_ways/index.html
(It''ll save your life more than bashing mirrors. )

Picture the scene - I make an errror on the road, you break my mirror, I take your number down and have you arrested at your workplace (VERY embarrassing) and charged with everything from malicious damage to property, to dangerous driving. Don''t think I can do it ? Think again.
I have and I can, and you''d better hope you don''t appear in court later on some unrelated charges before me, because I''ll guarantee you some jail time.

The best pieces of advice you''ve already had -
1 Ride as though everyone out there wants to kill you.
2 If 1 doesn''t work for you, sell the bike and hang up your helmet.
SAFER FOR EVERYONE, BUT SAFEST FOR YOU.

I''m not wasting any more time on this worthless post. Caveat magister !

+1 Voodoo

i can tell you after finding out it was an older couple i would of let it go..maybe an excuse me do you think you could be alittle more observant about riders you almost hit me. but had you been my friend or had i witnessed you be billigerant with an older couple "um in there face" i would have neutralized the situation real quick.acting like a ****ing monkey doesnt help you. but you probably feel like a big man yelling at old people..Dont ya? f*ck stick

these two statements you made are completely contradictory....

i agree with some of the others, there are some times when i have been in the cage or on the bike and i cut someone off or made some sort of a mistake (key word being MISTAKE) and i can tell you that if after that someone kicked off my mirror... or got in my face at an ice cream place they would have their a$$ handed to them on an engraved silver platter

^^ thanks ynks for pointing out that contradiction...

and would anyone else like to see this ass-hat go "vigilante" on a vehicle owned by Hardcorp?  just the thought of the ensuing madness makes me smile inside....

Noooooooooooooooooooo itgbudeev, imagine the carnage, although HC would probably have broken off the bike''s wingmirrors and shoved them where the sun don''t shine......just for starters. I''d love to get THAT on a video.......

Last summer i was taking my grandfather to the doctor, he cant get around well anymore. We were in his truck, mines to tall for him to get into, and he has a cap you cant see around very well. Anyhow im in the right lane for several miles, the hospital is coming up, i signal, and check the mirror, make a slow move over. As im doing that i hear a bike horn so immediatly dodge back right. Guy must have been in my blind spot for a few blocks, just never saw or heard him. He backed way off, so i re signal and make my change, and turn. Now as im parking i see him following, so i stop. He gets off bike and rips off his helmet and comes up to pass window. As he walks up i say dude i am so sorry, i never saw you there, was totally my fault. He then starts spouting off, swearing, and getting pissed. I say im sorry again, and start to pull away. He hits the side of the truck and says where the f&^% are you going ahole. I stop and say dude just drop it. He then says **** *** ******* and hits the mirror off the truck. Now my grandfather starts to say something and he says cork it gramps and spits on his face. Well that was it, i was outa the truck and it was on. I can at the very least tell you that lil punk ate thru a straw for at least a month. He is lucky i didnt do worse, or run his ass over. Of corse in a hospital parking lot there were plenty of witnesses, so no big deal to me. The point i guess is, i gave him a window to take the high road from a fellow biker. I made a mistake, apologized, and felt bad about it. But if you get violent, you never know whats gonna happen to you.
