i just got an 03 F4i. it''s getting fuel, but not spark. i''m new to bikes and would like to fix it myself rather than over paying some shop to tell me something i could find out here. i do all my own work on my car and am very mechanically inclined. any help would be appreciated. i haven''t had any real time to work with the bike other than to check the fuel and spark.

when you turn the key do you hear the fuel pump priming ? if no check the kill switch .

has the bike been stunted out ? if yes check the BAS (bank angle sensor "tip over sensor")
i believe on the f4i that this is located near the headlight assembly

can''t say that i did notice the pump, but i now can''t check it till i get back to the states. being new to the bike scene i really don''t know anything about them. i''ll either just wait till i get back or might have my girl take it in somewhere if we get the title straight. also at this time it is missing the headlight so would the sensor be hanging somewhere or could that be the issue since the entire front faring is not attatched.

sounds like that is your problem. you can have your girl test it. there is a black box and it has an arrow point that upwards and you should be able to turn on the key and hear the fuel pump priming. a loud *whirrrrrr* noise. if the kill switch (red switch on the right handle bar) is in run mode you should hear that noise, if it is in the KILL position then you wont hear it.
