That is nutballs. If he survives new tank syndrome, he''s just gonna get huge and even more pissed off at being in a smallish tank...whew, man, watch your fingers. He might enjoy a heater, too. All my guys are algae eaters and low level swimmers...I couldn''t imagine having to worry about them jumping out of the water with razors for teeth

ORIGINAL: RCR Are they legal? My uncle had one many years ago, about 6 or 7 inches and it took a chunk out of his pinky finger while he was feeding it. Jumped out of the tank quick and he didn''''t even have time to pull back. it eventually commited suicide, he found it laying on the ground (he thinks his wife did it though she hated the thing). WEIRD! I had two of them quite a few years ago...when they got about 4-5 inches long, I started feeding them pinky mice...It''s so cool watching them swim on top of the water(insert theme from Jaws here) then all of a sudden the piranha come up and grab a hold of the mice and shake them under until there wasn''t much left of it...One day I was getting ready to clean the tank and reached in to get out some of the decor, and one of them latched onto my pinky finger and took out a half inch chunk...F''n thing! Pissed me off! Got rid of them after a few more months... RB

i think he can grow up to 7 inches(or larger) once i get him out of this damn little tank..he just in the 15gal. for a month or so..then i will throw the 75 gallon in here(if it fits). I really like this one, i hope he survives. hes been in this tank close to 2 days now. hes been eating pretty good. seems to be coming out more often and swimming around without hiding when i get close to the tank. ill get a better pic with my camera instead of my phone tomorrow when i get off work.

Poor guy..He def. did NOT like the tank cleaning..I used the self siphon gravel vaccum and was going for a few minutes just fine..then he just started freaking out..and so did I. the hose went from my bucket straight onto my computer monitor (D''OH). then i changed 50% of the water..and he didnt move at all for like an hour. i thought i killed him. now that its all done he seems happy to have a freshly cleaned tank. Ill reward him with some tasty goldfish! (ill make sure they live for atleast 2 weeks first) going to buy some tomorrow and put in a spare tank.

I think the pizza flavor is my favorite.

Partial water changes PARTIAL water changes. Make sure you''re only changing 1/3 of the water or less on evry water change, and that you do it often. that way you remove just enough toxins from the water, but still give tha cleaning bacteria a chance to develop. If you change too much water at the same time, you''re forcing the "new tank sysdrome" to re start itself all over again Get a water testing kit and check the ammonia, nitrites and nitrate levels at least evry 2 days for the first month or so. (Ammonia WILL Kill your fish, nitrite, and nitrate is what the bacteria will turn the ammonia into, which is not as harmful to the fish) I gave my sister a 50 Gal tank fior her B-day, and currently have a 180 Gal tank at home. I''ll post pictures later, to include of my filtering setup.
