Well I replaced my front tire and after that I rode off and noticed a burning smell so I pulled the fairings
and noticed my regulator connection was burning so I rode it home and ordered a 2005 GSXR reg. off of Ebay
It came so I saudered the regulator wires on and tried to start the bike and even the lights dont turn on. SO either the guy sold me a bunk R/R or it killed my battery. And I tried to jump the bike with my car but it didnt work any help anyone? trying to get this back ont he road for thelabor day weekend.

also i read that it was
Honda                                       Suzuki
3 white( alternator)                     3 black
1 Red ( positive)                       1 black/red
1 green( negative)                     1 black/white

but my bike had

3 yellow, one red&white, and one red and black.
I matched the red&white with the black and red and the green with the black and white

Correct...BUT...my bike also had three yellow...one red and one green...i would assume the red/black is positive and the red/white is negative....doesn''t anyone download the service manuals anymore?

im sorry mine had -three yellow -one red/white - one green
and i matched it  - three black - one red/black - oneblack/white
is that cool?
think I just picked up a broken R/R
or my battery just completely died? but wouldnt the jump cables at least give me some response?

perfect setup. i''m about to give you possible bad news....you smelled burning wires...when your R/R broke...it was stuck in OPEN LOOP...it may have fried every wire & fuse on the bike...check your fuses if you haven''t already...some peoples R/R''s go out peacefully and leave you limping home like mine did...or burn everything they can up while dying. If you jumped it and still got nothing...wires and/or fuses.

PS do not jump from a car...at least not a running one

yeah checked fuses right now it looked good. what should I jump it from? dang hopefully its not all the wires. ya think it can be the regulator being bad when i bought it because I remember after getting home a day later I turned key to see if itll give me light and the speedometer and the headlight came on

my R/R was taunting me when it went...sometimes it would charge my bike fine...other times it wouldn''''t...mostly it wouldn''''t....right before i changed it, it got real bad to the point of me not being able to rev past 7k because the battery was so dead....you CAN jump it from a car BUT the car CANNOT be running....CANNOT! car alternators supply way too much power for our little systems....so leave the car off...i actually have a semi drained but good car battery that i used specifically for jumping...the bike i had(f2). Your bike should start off another battery with no problem...if your jumping and not getting anything...and your fuses ARE NOT burnt out...then you have a much worse problem. When you jump, also make sure you are connection the cable from car battery positive to bike positive and car battery negative to bike frame...not bike negative

and to answer your question more clearly...yes it can still be the R/R...your battery will take a few days to drain if not completely charged...mine was like that...battery would be fine when i turn the bike off...wouldn''t ride for a week...battery wouldn''t crank over the bike...never had that problem after replacing the R/R

ok DONOT start your car when you try to jump the bike
have the key on both vehicles off
hook the cables up and let it sit for like fifteen minutes
then try to start the bike
sounds like you hooked the r/r up correctly

pro:
if when you tried to jump...nothing even came on with the key being turned, then you have a big problem. jumping from a car battery alone will supply enough power to start your bike the second you hook it up...no need to ghetto charge your bike battery, the regulator if working will do so itself once the bike is running again
