I'll stick with a 14 dollar Target special...those are some expensive fugging backpacks!!! I could never justify spending that much on one and for that price, it better give you a back massage too!

I personaly would not ride with a backpack on my back while riding for safety reasons, how so!!! I've heard some bad stories on how some rider's back
got hurt really bad when they crashed with their backpacks, I don't know how accurate these stories are (the kind that gets passed along between fellow riders) but it could happen if you think about it, picture sliding on the tarmac at 50,60 or 100 mph with a backpack that has inside of it some potentially harmful items ( something like a pen, flashlight) I know some guys that put SCREW DRIVERS in their backpack even if you don't think much of it when you're packing could easyly turn to a FLESH PUNCTURING missile, I don't wanna scare you but it could happen
As far as what I use: Tank bag. but hey to each his own just wanted to tell you what I have heard.

I think as long as it's OFF your back it's ok, anyone else cares to give his or hers $0.02

That is what BACK PROTECTORS are for.

You are worried about what you carry with you? You ever look at what is on the groun when you ride by? Slap a curb with your back at 80mph. Hope you don't like walking much.

There used to be a pack or two on the market with integrated back protectors. That way it didn't matter if you had stuff in there or not, the BP would still do it's job.

I have been thinking about taking a heavy duty pack with chest and waist straps and modifying it with a inner pocket specifically for a CE Level 2 back protector.

I have started riding with a single strap backback. At first I grabbed it by accident, but it turns out to be the best backpack I have riden with. i like the fact that the strap goes over your chest instead of under both of your arms. I feel that I can get the backpack tight enough to keep it from moving around without it digging into my arms.

I agree w/ jjbtao.

I myself spent $175 on a camelpak backpack with 3 section and of course the pack in the very back. it has two sets of straps on the shoulder straps. One lining up with your shoulders. and the other snapps in around your waste.

This ones harder to come by and of course more expensive. But it holds alot of stuff and of course a descent amount of water/beer/jagermeister/water/beer etc etc...

Cheeerrs.

Adam,
What model Camelback is that one? Did you pick it up online or in a store? Thanks.

Hey man.

Not exactly sure what model it is but I got it from my local outdoors man shp (TURNERS OUTDOOR) in Orange, CA.
-----------------------------------

Did some homework for you NEONSPEED. Here is a site you can get it from with multiple colors, and not a bad price either.

Its somewhat military issue and very heavy duty.

Cheers.

I want a camelback but I don't know how much to spend... I'm not looking to carry more than a pair of shoes in the back to change into when I go to work, but my commute is about to jump from 10 minutes to 45 and I know I'll want one of these... do you guys know a good site I can order it from or even a store that will ship with good prices?

I'm using a backpack that came off of some luggage I bought when I went to Europe. It is a great size for what I carry. I am looking into a mini hardshell. I really like the smaller packs.

05Tribal, You have a PM if it's still for sale

That big bulge at the bottom is what the pack looks like when you put a helmet in the special helmet compartment, like when you are off the bike and in class at school maybe. When the helmet is not in the separated helmet compartment the extra material tucks inside the pack and it zips up looking like a normal back pack. This pack also has a cushioned pocket for a laptop computer. Let me know if you are interested in buying mine, I will send you more detailed picks.
