New here, so hello to all from NJ. Bought a guys back up race bike to use as a track bike. It is a 99 CBR 600 F4. No engine work done, just suspension, race fairing and tail and other race parts. Had it at the track for the first time yesterday. Ran great the whole day. After my last session, I put it in the trailer and hear what almost sounds like an alarm, not buzzing or beeping, but a constant tone. After checking several things, I figure it is electrical and disconnect the battery, well the terminals are extremely hot and the noise is coming from the battery itself! Holy explosive batman! We got the battery out and put it in a safe area and luckily it did not explode. New to Hondas and heard that the F4 may have have some electial/charging issues. Anyone have any experience with this or know what caused it?

Plates between the cells are either cracked or broken. Electrolytes are constantly mixing without the bike providing current to utilize the electric potential in the battery. This creates heat and a battery that is constantly working. I myself need to put in a new battery every year, even when I pull mine out in the winter. Peace.
