I have been getting prices on a new front tire, and when i tell them i have a 130/70/16, they tell me i have the wrong rim. They say i have to have a 17 inch rim.  I have never changed the rim, and dont think the person before me has either.  am i completely wrong, or did they make a 16 inch front rim for a 97 f3? thanks

your rim is wrong.   front tire SHOULD be a 120/70/17, not a 130 anything.  find a 3.5" F2/3 rim, it''ll be a 17", guaranteed.  yours sounds like its a 900RR wheel.

my f3 does have a 900rr front end on it, and by that i mean the front fairing and headlight. do you think that could be the reason i have this rim and tire? it was like this when i bought the bike.. what difference would the rim and tire size make? thanks

Like above.  Sounds like you have a 900rr wheel on it.  They are 16" and use 130 tires.  F3 use 17" wheels and 120 tires.

is there a major difference between the tires? or would i be ok to just replace the 16" tire instead of buying a new rim and tire? thanks

sorry to hijack the thread, but what exactly is the purpose/advantage to the 900RR front end?  I mean I know it looks absolutely overkill even for a 900 and probably is, but is that the only advantage?

I bought my bike this way, and looks are of no advantage seeing that I don''t have fairings, but I''m happy with it.
