When i take the mirrors off do i have to put anything back to keep integrity of upper cowl intact?

I have it torn down doing flapper mod and have mirrors off but the weight of the vacuum chamber is making me nervous.

any insight would be helpful.

I would say yes, you should at least have mirror block of plates. Im not sure on your bike, but most bikes utilize the mirror''s clamping affect to help hold the upper fairing on.

Thanks dude, just to let ya know i did a track school, layed the bike down, repaired it, rode the rest of the day. Prepped it and rode it home. no issues yet.
Although I would feel better having the upper bolted at the mirrors, it seems to work fine without them.

P.S. Will update sig

ok. the answer is no. i have an 08 1k and have the mirrors off. there is no issue with it at all. the only downside is the open hole you have to look at. when they make block offs for it i will get them but it is clearly cosmetic.

you can always zip tie them together for an easy fix until you get something better.

The only thing I''''''''''''''''m scared of when a Harley is near is that a piece is going to fall off and cause me to wreck.

thezip tie will not work on the 08. the mirror base on the 08 just overlaps the fairing. there is no piece that is inserted. it is just a large hole under the base. if you need visuals then find my pics thread for 08  and you will see what i mean. just leave it without till they come up with block offs
