Practice slipping the clutch a bit, you want plenty of traction, but only a 3" to 6" wheelie. Getting a good 60'' is the best way to win a drag race, (aside from mega horsepower, of course). Bikes are one place where the rider makes ALL the difference!!! If your bike likes to wheelie, get as far forward as you can and lean up on the tank, by the time Im in 2nd gear, my chin guard is nearly touching the tank and I''m tucked behind the windscreen.

Depends on what bike you have, mods that were done.  The powerband for your bike will dictate your starting rpm.  A liter bike would have a lower rpm to start with because the powerband is in lower rpm range.  With lets say a 03 600RR and only a slip on Jardine pipe (friends bike).  I hold it right around 10k before the launch.  With my 954, I''m at around 7-8k.  Clutch control and body position is important cause you really don''t want to 12 it on the launch.  When I''m on the track, I strap my front end down (lower it).  Helps control the wheelies off the line and improves the times.  BTW, track or street race?  Either way good luck.

I have a launching question....when launching (after holding the bike to whatever RPM''s) are you guys launching with both feet touching the ground and then quick pull them up after letting out the clutch? Sorry I have never really pushed my f4.

That''s pretty much what I do, I don''t rush it though, just quick enough to get to the shifter to start shifting. (no air shifter.... yet)

i launch it at whatever i can still hold on, cause lowered and strapped these things(f4i) don''''t come up. PERIOD! (short of dropping the clutch at 12k)  take your time on bringing your legs back to the pegs...you have plenty of time(more than you would think). and make sure to hit the 1-2 shift firm...but that may just be f4i''''s. that that they have a problem with that. i''''ve been a 10.7 stock with a strap and lowered

6k off the line works great for me. My best 60 ft was a 1.62 but I am usually in the low 1.70''s

When I launch, I lay my chest on the tank and spread my legs back as far as I can behind me. This puts as much weight as possible on the front end to keep it down. Try this as your practicing and do different RPM levels. You need to keep the motor from bogging by keeping your RPM''s up and not to high to pull a wheelie any larger than a few inches. And keep laying on the tank as you pull your legs up but remember you have longer to get your legs up then you think. My first few times I was pulling me legs up to early and would pull the front up too high. Just go out in a remote location and find your RPM level that works and also how fast you can slip the clutch.

+1 to rickracer ^^^^

The way I found the easiest was drag your feet for about 40 ft. It makes me feel more stable. If you watch most pro guys without wheelie bars they do the same thing.
