alright, so i have determined that my clutch needs to be replaced.  there is almost no friction zone.  i don;t beat on it, but it was owned by 2 other people before me, so one of them must have.

basically i need to know what parts i need.  i would LOVE to get a barnett kit, but i need to get this done tomorrow, so i will have to settle for the Honda kit from a dealer.

do they sell a kit? or do i have to know that i need X amount of plates?  i believe the inside and outside plates are different than the rest. correct?  what about springs, is there a beefier version?

what about fluid? how much do i need and is there a recommended type?

i know i can do the replacement, i have done them on dirt bikes, i just have no idea about the parts i need.  PLEASe hel me i need to get the bike ready for a sunday road trip to MA.

If you''ve done dirt bikes then this is easy.  The concept and design are pretty much the same.  Friction discs and plates.  I used the EBC kevlar discs with steel plates in my 01 F4i.  I also upgraded the clutch springs, to I forget what brand.  Clutch lever was heavier, but the action was so much better.  The fluid or oil is whatever engine oil you use.  Unlike 2-stroke dirt bikes, where there''s a separate trans oil, in most 4 stroke engines the trans and engine oil are the same. Since you''ve done dirt bikes you know to presoak the friction discs, and make sure that everything goes back in the same order that it came out.

As for the kit I know they sell them, or you can buy the friction discs, and plates separately.  Usually the clutch springs are another part number.  If you''re buying from the dealership then it should have the correct size and number of discs for your model.

Good luck, and hope you have a safe trip on Sunday.
