Hey all.. Im currently riding a 06 CBR 600RR. I really want to upgrade to a bigger bike. I found a 2003 CBR 954RR. The bike has some mods as far as flush mount turn signals, has a full exhaust and aftermarket front steering stabalizer. Beside''s tho''s mod''s its in really good shape. The dealer is asking $5400 and the bike has slightly over 10K miles on it. I am looking to see if this is worth the price and how do they compare to a 1000 CBR. I am looking at sticking with Honda. This is my second 600RR ive owned. Looking to upgrade. Is this bike a good daily driver? I also will being using this at the track from time to time. How reliable is the 954''s. Anything else i should be looking for when i go look at the bike again tomorrow. (was raining last time so i couldnt test ride or show my bike to the dealer)...

Thanks

954 has no major issues and is a great overall bike. Price seems okay but if I''''m sure if it''''s a dealer there''''s a reason it''''s priced reasonably .. what that reason is I don''''t know but I''''d be weary and check it out thoroughly. Have you looked through cycletrader.com? Also, depends on what you mean by "upgrade" and your reason for it, I don''''t really consider a 600rr to 954rr an upgrade, just more cc''''s. Ergos and everything else are similar. As far as comparing to 1000 if you got the bux and like it I would always take newer technology if possible but again, nothing wrong with 954 either ... reliability is top notch as long as it''''s been taken care of (e.g. oil changes on time, etc..). Good luck with your purchase.

p.s. I''ve used mine for daily commutes and it suites me just fine. You''ll enjoy the taller gears in stop go traffic. Ergos could be a bit more comfy but there''s give and take with every bike.

Im looking for a bigger bike, a little faster then my 600RR.. No. i dont street race, nor speed on the street''s. I stand at 6'' 1. So on the 600 my knee''s are eating my chest when on the highway cruising. I do ride at the track atleast twice a month if its nice out. I would go for a 1000 but everyone i have been finding either been hacked up in a bad way or just too many mile''s. I have been riding for slightly over 4 years. Rode a 93 600RR and then just last year purchased the 06 600RR. I will be using this for daily commute and just to cruise around town.   Hope all goe''s well when i check it out tomorrow.

Ergos are slightly better then the 1000.
954 is lighter then the 1000
the 1000 does have a bit more power of course

i got my 03 954 for 4300 from a private owner and it was right at 10,000 so for a dealer that price seems fair.  Just make sure you check things out before you get it like chain rear sprockets brakes tire conditions lil crap like that.

Depending on the condition of the bike, that seems like a fine price. I bought an ''02 very recently from a forum member for more than that, but after alot of eyeballing and research it was a great purchase. Enjoy your new bike, they''re incredible.
