Hey guys, I''m new to cbrforum. I have an 89 cbr600f1 aka "the cane." Anyway, I''m pretty sure the carbs need to be cleaned and possibly synced. I was hoping that either someone might know of previous how to for that or that a mechanically minded individual might be willing to make one. Thanks in advance for any help you are willing to provide.

I dont know of a how to, but I''ll tell you that it is a very good idea to have a dremel with a cutting wheel to slot the heads on some/all screws on the float bowls and diaphragm covers, since they''re DAMNED SOFT screws and tend to be rather tight. once out, replace with appropriately sized allen head machine screws.

I thought someone wrote a tutorial already, but I couldn''t find it. This might help some: http://www.cbrforum.com/m_48059/tm.htm Found a how-to, its not for a cane specifically, but it should help out none the less. http://www.cbrforum.com/m_311016/tm.htm

I was wondering, is there a reason why you can''t spray carb cleaner into them, like on a car?

I don''t know of a reason not, just always better to clean them since our bikes are so old, and if newly purchased have more than likely been sitting for some time. Sea foam works good though.

if you just spray carb cleaner down them its not going to clean the shit out of the bowls or the jets, on ANY carb''d vehicle its best to remove it and pull the bowls and jets out, thats the only way youre going to get a proper cleaning. TB cars you just take the air intake off and spray away, but carb''d cars, i would still rip er off and strip er. You way also want to check the float height. If its not set correctly, the bike will not be at its full potential at about 25% throttle.
