it runs like crap without it, you can hear a noticeable change in smoothness of idle if you install an exhaust while idling, it sounds great a low rpm but is waaaaay too loud (and I love loud bikes) at actual driving rpms, plus cops will hassle you, if you want loud and cheap, buy a thrashed aftermarket can and chop it down to a shorty

yeah, a straight pipe gixxer rode under a tunnel the other day while me and my friend were in the cage with windows open, we both jumped, sounded like a jet screamed by or something
but yeah, backpressure is necessary to some extent, look it up, it can even damage your engine to run straights

its insanely loud and pops like a mofo even at low rpms

straight piped CBRs are bad mmkay?   I got a shorty can that you could probably use, its sure not pretty, nor very quiet, but it does work. just dont ask what it is cause I really have no idea, aside from ugly. nothing a little paint cant fix.

I used to run my F4i straight piped, but had to redo the map.  For your bike you would have to re jet to compensate, it''s more that likely running really lean right now.  Most of the aftermarket exhaust are straight through and only have muffler packing around it to absorb the sound, so it only adds a little bit of backpressure.  If you want you can put a baffle in the straight pipe.  I used one meant for drag pipes on Harleys and McGyver''d it to fit.  Quieted it down a little bit, stopped some of the popping on decel.  Looked pretty cool too.  Had a friend with a mandrel bender so made a custom pipe.  A local muffler shop should be able to help with the length and bends you need.  It can be pretty trick.  I used header wrap and it ended up looking unique and trick.  Sorry but I sold the bike before I could get any pics.
