Hello everryone, Please forgive the noob questions, but I was wondering what makes for Quality riding gear vs the cheap stuff? The reason I am asking is because I want to go to the dealer and look around and try stuff on so I can purchase online, and I don't want to bother the sales staff. I am not sure what seperates the men from the boys (so to speak) No offense to the ladies who post in this forum. Any advice would be helpful. Oh I am looking at jackets, riding pants, and boots. I already have a helmet.

Typically you want thick leather, good construction, quality padding and something that fits right. You want your jacket and pants to be pretty snug to prevent it from twisting around you in the event that you might fall, which would cause you to tumble. I think the best brands are, in no particular order, Dainese, Joe Rocket, Alpinestars, and I think Icon is good too. I personally have Joe Rocket pants, gloves and jacket. Try to get a jacket and pants the same brand so you can zipper them together. For boots, I wear Diadora race boots since the price was right and they have good stiffness and protection, which is key.
