I would say yes but still try to talk it down a little bit. If you could get it for like $4000 or even lower it would be a steal

Being an 01 I would say $4500 tops.  $4500 would be a good price for the seller.  $4000 would be a good price for the buyer.

I always wonder how well does a bike that old with that few miles get maintained.

Bought my silver/red 03 with 7K, all stock minus an undertail and frame sliders for $3600. I think you could talk him down to 3800 or 4000. Ask him for the stock exhaust pipe and if he doesnt have it, remind him that aftermarket stuff does not add value. Unless you specifically like all the mods on the bike.

Does it make any difference if this is in California/Norcal?
All the other F4i on Craigslist all have 15k+ miles with similiar mods. All are asking for around $4k.

Btw, the seller is firm on the price.

Don`t always be fooled by the mileage. I would rather have a 15k mileage bike well maintened than a same year low mileage never maintaned Bike . For a 7 year Bike it probably has had the oil changed once ,twice if lucky and no other maintenace cause it only has 3,500 miles . I think these Honda engines prefer to be ridden than just sitting in a garage . For $4,500 the bike should be real clean and not have damage like you stated to the Bike .

I just bought a 2004 cbr f4i black/yellow from a dealer with some minor scratches for 3500 straight cash... just look around and it was completely stock which is perfect cause i like workin on my own bikes, but with your bike proposal i would say 4000 straight cash if its private but if its a dealer say 4200 cash if he doesn''t take it leave a phone number and walk away...sometimes you might get them to chase you out the door to sell it lol

Do you enjoy the bike?  If so, then you didn''t pay too much.  If you regret buying it every day of your life, then yes you paid too much.  I''d be worried about dry rot on a bike that is 6 years old with only 81 miles.  If its in good shape, then IMO you got a good deal.  It all depends how long ago the maintenance the guy did on it was.  if the oil change was more than 3-5 months, I''d change it again.  You can also raise the bike back up with a stock dog bone.
