I have a spare sidestand switch on my spare 87 cbr 600. I wouldn''t screw around with the switches - I''ve known a couple of people who''ve gotten seriously hurt when the stand came down when they''ve hit speed bumps.

it prevents you from taking off in gear with the sidestand down.

if you shift into first with the sidestand down, it cuts juice to the bike. safety item.

i''ve seen this happen before where people remove it. so dude takes off on his $15,000 ducati with the sidestand down, he readies up for the first left. he goes in, leaning more into the turn, sidestand catches the blacktop, the bike pivots on the sidestand, he takes a wild ride into the bushes and now he has everything on the leftside of a very nice bike turned to garbage, including a bent sidestand, a cracked sidestand frame bracket and who knows what else.
