Hey guys, just picked up my 2000 929rr and love it. as far as i know it only has a slip on exhaust, but the guy gave me the power commander to go with it.

I rode around for a week on it or so, then decided to hook up the power commander. to make a long story short, I hooked it up and tried the ''map'' that was on it. It ran like garbage, so I got the cable, downloaded the maps / software and tried out a few maps (slip on, stage 1, and ''zero'' map). All were noticably worse than without the power commander. I''m not sure if they were uploaded correctly, or somethign else is the problem. there is also a ''ground'' wire (per the PC website) that I am unsure if is in fact supposed to be grounded, or possibly powered. The PC directions say ground, so i went ground, but looking through a few other installs some are to the power...?

I then took the power commander off, and now the fuel pump won''t prime? I plug the PC II back in and it primes completely normal, yet still runs like crap.

Anyone have any ideas as to what could be wrong? I had a fuel line rip (from bango bolt to fuel pump) while I was under there, i replaced it w/ FI 5/16ths line, so the only other option I''m thinking it could be would be one of the fuel lines got crimped. It''s not a great angle under that (cmon honda!) but still doesn''t explain why the fuel pump wouldn''t prime without the power commander?

Any ideas guys? I''d love to be able to run the power commnader (hell i got it right?) but not if it''s going to make it run worse. Please help!

Don''t know?  Have you tried zeroing it (the map settings) out to run the stock map?

I would personally take it to be dyno tuned by the guys that do it everyday.  That is the only way to get it tuned to the most efficient setting (custom map) for each bike.  Every bike is different, even if they are the same year/model.

i have tried a slip on map, a stage 1 map, and a zero map. all ride worse than when plugged into the factory harness...

...but when I plug it all back together (stock) the fuel  pump won''t prime. I plug the pc2 in, and it primes normally...any ideas?

The fuel pump is only 3 wires... I''d suggest getting some caig de-oxidizing lubricant on the wires... see if you maybe just have an intermittent short.

Double check the grounds.  And lastly, I''d say take apart your right start/stop switch, and check for an intermittent connection in there as well.

Also, looked at the service manual in the 929 section to see if they have a trouble shooting solution for ya?

this happened to me when i installed my pc3 on my bike but my problem with the fuel pump was that when i had lifted the tank to allow access to where it hooks up i accidentally had pulled the wire from where it connects to the fuel pump and when i would lift the tank it would run as it should but when i put the tank down it wouldnt. ill check the wires and tell you which is what as far as ground and power and what not tomorrow, i just cant remeber right now

after digging much deeper i found one of the injector wires (terrible sodlering job from previous owner) came off. the bike was running on 3 injectors...NOT GOOD!

I fixed everythign up, started it up without power commander and ran fine. Uploaded a map with a slip on and it ran smooth. problem fixed!
