Recently i just sold my kawasaki 2000 ZX6R for a 01' 929. The Zx6R was a piece of crap(used and abused). But when i got on the throttle with that bike it felt like i was on the being catapolted. Really fun to drive. But with the 929 everything is better about it but for some reason, when i get on the throttle it doesn't seem like my hauling ass like i did with the Zx6r. Don't get me wrong, i am hauling ass on the 929, i get up to speed much much faster then i did with the zx6r.

Anyone else have that same exspeience where the 929 doesn't have that "fun" factor as much as some other bikes? maybe it's cause the redline on the zx6r was like 14k or so and the 929 is 11.5k

i had the exact opposite experience you did. i started off on a 99 zx6r, the first time i got on the 929 i was like o'shit this thing is scary fast.

I would spend the $30 or so and have it Dynod to see what your baseline is and if it is running correctly. I have an F3 track bike and a 929 and I am much slower in the corners on the 929 but it will eat up most 600/636s I ride with on the straights.HTH

another thing, i drive ALOT faster with the 929 then i ever did with the zx6r. partly because on the zx6r, it felt like i was doing 150 when doing 90. but on the 929 going 120 is like doin 80. i know the speedo is off but mine is only off by 4 mph when checked with a laser gun.

on a side note, anyone ride there bikes so much then get back in there truck/car and almost rear end people all the time because your used to the awesome braking on the bike? LOL, happens to me all the time.. drives me nuts.

i dont have anything to compare my 929 to, but i feel it could be a bit faster off the line.

I reckon its to do with your power band. The 600 starts pullin hard when it starts revin, kinda sling shot effect while the 929 has a smoother power delivery and more power throughout the rev range. I read an article where they tuned a bike so the power curve was smoothe and linear and had a bunch of jurnos ride it. They then retuned it so it had less power but made it all in high revs. The jurnos all thought that the tune with less power was faster just because of the way it pulled, and they were shown times and the were all wrong.

on my gixxer 6 I got the same feeling of being thrown 150 mph. The way it was explained to me is you are pulling higher g's(as close to higher g's as you can get without taking off) because of the way higher revs. But the 929 will eat them 6's all day.

My 929 is pretty gearey (+6) and through it does pull harder through the lower gears, it sure hit the rev limiter faster than my R6. I'm still used to the 15.5k redline. I raced my buddy on his 1000RR and he whupped my ass.....bad. I still think that the 929 is def faster than the R6 but I don't think it's by a whole lot.

I felt the same thing with my 929. I also have an 03' 636 and it feels like the 636 is more powerful than the 9. My main problem is regarding second gear wheelies. On my 636, I can pop it up with clutch going about 40-45 all day, but with the 929, I would have to be going about 55-60 before it will come up all the way, which is too fast. Does anyone else have this issue? Please explain. I shouldnt have this problem with the 929, being a 929cc bike and all. Does anyone think that having it dynoed will alleviate some of this. Or will a bolt on give me that low to mid range power that Im looking for? Please help.. Thanx in advance guys...
