Well, as some of you might remember, my ''93 Honda 900rr has a new rectifier and the darn thing works like a charm!   Thank you everyone for your advice and encouragement during some really dark days.

The old one was making my stator overcharge my battery and almost killed it.

Now, with the new rect. the battery is charged at just a hair over 1500 rpm, that''s right.....just past idle!

To make sure everything was okay, I just went on a 2 1/2 hr ride and made sure to make the bike idle a lot in traffic with the radiator fan running to really tax the battery, and to see if the charging system was up to the task.

When I used the voltmeter on the battery with the bike off...the battery showed a FULL charge

Glad everything turns up well MT! Finally you can ride her; not pushing her around.

Thank you Dinez!  It was a great ride one of the best on the 9 so far.

And it was even better because I wasn''t afraid the bike would die on me and leave me stranded like before.

Next ride, I''ll try to stretch it to four hours minimum

Nothing worse than being stranded on a bike, at least with a car you can lock it up and go for help.

Thanks Duke and X!

It is a good feeling not having to push this thing off the road and out of traffic anymore.

But it''s not over yet.  I still have to take it to Honda and get the new headlight installed.

2-hour job.  $150.

But the real test is what is the reading on the battery at 5k rpm with all that turned on. If it''s over 14.5 you still have issues and can potentially melt your ECU. I went through all that recently as well (battery, stator, reg all replaced) I''m still spot checking it to make sure it''s all working right.

Why stynk?  Why did you have to bring that up?

That ECU will burn a big hole in your wallet, Mr. Wallet!

Nah, I guess everything is running pretty cool MT, those Honda fellas should have anticipate and tested what Stynk had mentioned!

Sorry, just didn''t want you to overlook that. If you''re under 14.5 you''re good to go.

Yeah, I sure hope they took the non-stock headlight that''s in right now into account and can get it all wired up right.

Please let there be no more of these "test" threads!

Well, I took her out for a 3 hour ride today and it was just magic.

The bike ran well, just like it should even with the high beam on by accident it did not drain the battery.

I took her halfway around the island and even to Waikiki, where as you may recall the bike stalled the last two times I tried to go there.

Not this time.  It ran like a champ and I couldn''t be happier.

I also noticed that Honda took the liberty of changing out some improper screws and bolts that had been added by the previous owner, and they replaced them with correct ones or at least better ones.    I am very pleased and will drop the bike off at Honda again later next week for the headlight!
