I have been riding 600''s my whole life. I currently have an 07 600rr but next spring i am definitely looking to pick up a 1000rr. I usually buy new and the 09 white pearl has really caught my attention. I am not absolutely set on it because i never really know till im with the bike in person if its for me. well what my question is, are there any other years that compare to the performance of the 08-09 models that could save me some cash for some mods? By the way I do like the new body styles of the new 1krr''s. took a while but i do like them now. performance wise I mean do any of the other years have known problems i should steer away from?

I own an 06 and its rock solid, absolutely nothing wrong with the 06-07s, but imo I''d look for a cheap new 08 that the dealers are trying to move before the 09''s come in. Everything i''ve heard says the 08-09 is lighter, more powerful, more agile, just better in every way.

There''''s a good new vs. old comparison in the August ''''08 issue of SuperBike magazine.  Basically the ''''04-05 is good, ''''06-''''07 is a bit better and the ''''08 kicks serious ass.  I have an ''''05 and I have a friend with an ''''06 and a friend with an ''''08.  All 3 are awesome bikes IMHO but the new one is definitely worth it if you can afford it.  I like the look of the ''''04-05''''s best though , that is once I figure out what to do for an undertail and throw away that silly silver fin thing that hides the heat shield.
