Anyone seen a good looking street fairing for the 1000f? Want something fresh, modern, custom, to bring the bike up to date (and then some). Happy to do some fabrication. Don''t want to pay the earth and needs to arrive here in the UK safe and sound. Looking for a tip from someone who has bought one, or knows someone who has...want to find a reliable source! Photo''s or links appreciated.

Hi  there , I am looking for the same thing , or someone  who sells replacement original panels.
The only place I can find is from the states or spain & costs as much to ship them .
Good luck and let me know if you come up trumps

Fairing for these ride are hard to find as you would know..
Ebay has some bit and parts, but as you said, they seem mostly to be OS and shipping cost can be a bugger for bulky items ..

I have looked for manufacturers that might do after market one''s , but are yet to find one ..
As you also would know , most after market fairing suppliers seem to only do the later model rides , which really sucks ..

If you locate anything .... yer let everyone know   ... please !!!!

Yer ..might be a bit far for them to ship Mark..
I was thinking the other night about the lack of spares for these older rides and ...
I tell you what  ...  looking at the prices for good running CBR1000F''s over in england , I think that a one over their costing only 800 - 1000 pounds would be good to ship to here  part out ??

Get a few of them together , maybee 4-5 ..ship them in one go and then part them off ...?
Or sell the buggers here ?

We cannot buy a good CBR 1990 for under a min of $4000 AUD ? most are around the $4500 ish  ...

Sound like someone should think about it ???

If I see anything, I will let you know, only prob. is that our bikes are a bit different
The only spare pieces I have is a hand rail & some mirror bits.

I am keen on replacing my mirrors as the rubber boots never fit, even on the new aftermaket one I have (A$55, I think it cost me)
Can you get mirrors bracket extentions, then I can move the mirror a little forward and make the boot fit properly, maybe?

Actually, one of the posts I have meaning to get round to doing was...

I am considering buying a CBR1000f 90-91 with the intention of parting it out over winter.
Cash flow is quite tight for me (Single guy just bought a house - eeek!) and the intention would be to help fund keeping my bike rather than making a living out of it, and yes I would ship around the world at cost (Dont want to make money on postage)

Do you think it is viable ? IE would I get my money back?

I think that if you bought at the right price ...and even sold on ebay ...I do not think you could loose money..

As far as thing sort of thing goes ... the worst that may happen with only one bike to part off , is that you might get stuck for a while with a few of the less popular bought parts ..???

I know even if you sell a good engine as a whole unit , I have seen them go for around the $1000 US   ( if the miles are not too high )..

So a cheaply bought CBR1000F for around the 1000  mark or even less!!!! would be a good deal..

I also think it is worth keeping in mind that most of the people that do this sort of thing regularly to make money...
( can afford to hold quite a few parts till they sell without any financial stress..)

Not got one in mind - I had the idea when I was looking at steel exhausts - I was seeing end cans go for close to £200 yet I could of picked up a bike for £600 that had a full stainless system,
I thought why not buy the bike for the exhaust and sell the other bits off?

I Will keep my eye open for bikes on ebay over the winter

Maybe what we should do is start some sort of ''parts register'' so we know who has what in their sheds. I, for example have a few bits from the 87/88 model, like an oil pump, a stator cover, a pair of chain adjusters, pair of F/footpegs (no rubbers)a windscreen from a 89-92 model, and a complete set of 93-96 clocks in good order. There''s probably a bit more, but that''s what springs to mind.
If it''s viable, fine - but postage and payment should be UP FRONT - I''ve been burnt once already this year.....didn''t even get my postage back - pity, made me a bit cynical....

I don''t think that windscreen will fit mine, I''m thinking about a tinted one for my 94''.
Hard to see through and you can''t see the dirt on the bike
