Looking at a 1990 cbr1000f 126K miles looks like never been layed down.
has a small oil leak around stater. Current owner says he broke the o-ring replacing it and just never fixed it right. He is asking $900.00 I am considering this bike for a drag bike. Is it worth it?

A drag bike - No, too heavy.
126K MILES - they''re good bikes, but drag racing an engine with that mileage.....also, no.
$900 for a road bike - yes, every day !

126k ?? draging and her ? hmmm ,yer if you spend a large truck load of cash on her or only if you do not want to win??

I know 126k is alot but today''s drag racing is all ET (estimated time) meaning you put a time on your windshield and you cant go any faster or you are disqualified, you don''t win by being fast you win by reaction time at the starting line. Any ideas on what I should be looking for to get started in racing. I am a Harley rider but even us Harley rats know you need a sport bike for racing!!!

with that sort of milage i would be asking whats been done to it, sometimes a bike with that sort of milage has had a lot of work already done to it however it could need a lot of work, as for a drag bike maybe if u turbo''d it

Went today and checked out the cbr the add was a mis-print it only has 23k mi. on it not 126k. tittle confirms it. bike is somewhat scratched up, kid tried stunts with it.
it runs and drives real good. needs stater o-ring replaced and a rectifier but for $900.00 I think its a deal. Already had a friend say if I don''t buy it he will.

Well, do it - but ride it a little before you do any conversions. You may want to keep it as a road bike.

Ok, I did buy it, I will try to get some pictures posted. Already found out the oil leak is not the stater it is coming from somewhere behind the front sprocket cover. Need to find a service manual for it so I know what I am looking at. Done a lot of work on Harleys I have a 68 sportster I am restoring and I ride an 07 Softail custom. This honda thing is new to me.
