hi all, my multi meter has arrived and I do believe I may have discovered my problem, jus looking for confirmation from some one who knows! lol,  in the 4 pin red connecter block testing the yellow - yellow/white for continuity i get a reading but when i check for continuity with the blu - blu/white i get nothing, shouldnt they give the same result as the yellow - yellow/white??

According to the Honda manual... you should have 450-550 Ohms as your reading for each set.
When you say you get nothing, do you mean 0 ohms or infinity ohms? OK, you said no continuity so that means infinity ohms. Well then I would say that the pulse generator is bad.
ALso, by using the term "pickups", I assume you mean the pulse generator.

thanks for your help billistic, i do mean the pulse generators, sorry about that, complete newb to this. also newb to using the multimeter, the pin didnt move at all on the blu - blu/white so is that infinity ohms? (yes it was between 450 - 550 on the yellow-yellow white)  would that be the cause of me getting no spark at all tho on all 4 plugs?  I dont wanna take the bike to a garage as I got it as a learning project, certainly is a lot to learn! I just wanna start the engine b4 I strip it right down to a bare frame for my rebuild!  Thanks for the help in advance billistic and guys!

yes, because the pulse generators go directly into the spark unit ( or CDI as some call it).
No pulse, no spark, no fun! The  blu - blu/white is pulse generator II. Don''t know what the difference is between them. Does your bike crank when you push the button?

yeah it cranks fine, i''ve been thru the whole lot checking for any other faults (electrical) so far and this is the only problem I have found. fingers crossed this is the only problem, I have a box of just about every other electrical part as spares, guess they are what the previous owner bought trying to get it started. I''ll order some pulse generators today then!  wish me luck, thanks for the help, i''ll keep you posted!
