I went in to a dealer Friday at lunch to look for a heavier jacket. A salesman up there that I have gotten to know asked me "You still looking for a 1000RR?" I told him that I liked my 954RR, but if the right deal came along that I would consider picking it up. On a side note I had been searching all over for a new 07 1000RR when I found the 954RR. This dealer just happened to have one, but they wouldn''t come off the price enough for me to justify the purchase. From what my guy was telling me, they really want to get this bike off their books and are willing to make me a good deal. We talked about it and they are willing to give me $5k for the 954RR, but I paid $5300 for it back in August. Is the 07 1000RR (brand new, no miles) worth the extra $4500-5k in debt that I will pick up vs. a paid for 954RR with 7500 miles? Let me know what you think!

Well for what its worth, My friend had the 06 1000rr Loved it, but later wrecked it... hes now riding a 03 954 and says he likes it much Much better then his 1000. If the bike is paid in full, i would just ride it and spend the money else where.. But in the end its your money and your decision.

Thats one of those, only you can decide deals. They are both great bikes, but is it worth 5k more? dunno. If you really want a new bike then i guess it is.

i''m getting the same answers as another board that i posted this same question. i guess the answer really is no. i think the 1000RR isn''t worth the extra $5k. For $5k I can make the 954RR everything and more compared to the 1KRR.

I went through that not too long ago when my bike was acting up. I love having my toys titled. No better feeling. +1 on your decision. I kept my bike because of the bond I have with it, more than anything.

5k can get you carbon wheels, ohlins shock and ohlins spring and revalved forks...turning your 954 into a marriage ender.I would never get off of my bike with these mods

So your saying 10K plus for a 07???? Wow I got a buddy that bought a 07 earlier this year in Tennesee(looked in cycle trader) and got a brand new no miles for 8500 or something close to that. I agree with my partner Doog, having the title is the shit! I wont get rid of my 954 but ill buy something else (maybe the 08). Thats a decision youll have to make but me personally I like to eliminate as many payments as possible so not having a bike payment adds to the money I can spend on it.

Brand new 1k out the door for $10,000? I dont think that is a smok''in deal at all. If you are itching for a new ride. Wait! 09 will bring alot of new machines that will be incredible! As stated earlier. I love to go and look at the new bikes. I have been lucky enough to saddle up on a few. It always comes back to my 54....In my opinion. Its power to weight ratio is what makes it so incredible! It may not be the fastest bike on the street, but what it lacks in power can be more than compensated with its good looks and handling ability. If you get an opportunity to perform a track day on it. Do it! Great all around machine! Plus I always fear that my decision to move on to another bike may be a mistake. Ask for a demo ride and decide for yourself. $5k out of your pocket and a test ride will clarify this decision for you.

How many miles do you have on your bike? Have you had any problems that worried you at all? (prob not, its a honda)... I''d consider it... only if I had the 5k in my checking... I hate payments... but a payment as small as that would be may not be bad for a BRAND NEW bike... only you can decide! It''s always nice to get a bike when its brand new and build it just how you want from mile #1. Thats what I''ve done with my 6rr

I''d keep your 954. I dont think the 1000RR is that much better. In fact, if you like your 954, you may not even like the 1000RR. The 1000RR was built for the track more than the 954 was. The 954 has power nice for the streets, the 1000RR is kinda weak on the low end and its power is more mid and upper. The gear ratio''s are also more track oriented. Dont get me wrong, I love my 05, but I rode a friends 954 and really thought I would have more fun with his bike than mine. It was more comfortable too. I didnt take his bike through any corners, so I dont the comparision there. My bike falls into corners and the feedback from the tires is amazing.. actaully, its the only bike I''ve ever ridden that I could actually feel the tires grip.. 10 grand for a left over 07 is too much. It doesnt sound like they want to move it to me. You''d be better off selling your bike private. I''d bet you could still see close to 6 for it depending on its condiiton and mileage. You should be able to pick up a left over for at least 9 grand or less. Of course, a lot of people are snatching up the left over 06 and 07''s due to the 08''s looks. So, if I didnt have a bike, It would be a hard choice, but seeing as you have a real nice bike already, I''d ride it for a few more years. Maybe by then, the liter bikes wont be so ugly..
