I posted this thread in the 1000rr forums to(http://www.cbrforum.com/m_661133/tm.htm), just want to get a answer from both ends
This spring Ill be buying myself a new bike. The thing is which one to get? A 1000rr or 600rr? Im an experienced rider from the dirt side of motorcycles. Raced motocross for years, 450B and 4 stroke open class top 5 racer... Almost everyone Iv asked about a 1000 or 600 says get the 600, because its your first bike, even though its deff not my first bike, though It would be my first STREET bike. How are your thoughts on this? Im not worried about the 1000s power being to much, just if its practible to have and is the 600 enough for me to have fun on. I have putt around the mall parking lot with my friends 98 cbr 900 and my friends 97 gsxr 750. I felt that when riding them I would be much happier with more power. But they are old bikes so I wouldnt really compair them to the new ones of today.  Any advice would be great

i say a 600 has enough power for anyone, especially an rr. and if its not zippy enough, get a -1+2 sprocket change like i have and its freakin amazing. i can do anything on this bike, i have no need to ride a 1k bike, unless i were to race other 1k bikes... imo 1000 cc''s is unnecessary.

get the 6

Yer ..honestly mate..
It is not just the power ..its the weight as well as the feel  ..
If you have not thrown one of these things around the road before? ...  just start with the 600 ..

They go like shit out of a shanghai !!! handle great ... great all round really

You can get good 600''s cheap... do some miles , look after her , you will get your money back if you stay upright and when you think you know what you are doing on the road, may be then if you feel the need for more power , swap up...

1000''s are great rides , but because of the extra everything , they really are not a good first ride mate ..

I say keep the 6, 1k''s are really all about bragging rights on the street cuz whats the point? I have the -1/+2 as well and the bike wakes up at that point, should have been that way from the factory imo.  You should be plenty happy on a 600RR and your years in the dirt will help and hurt you. Just like classic said, keep on two and ride it for a year and see how you feel at the end, you will get 98% of your money back if you really feel the need to upgrade.

I was thinking very hard about getting 1000 instead of the 600.  The 600 is plenty of bike.  Mine is VERY quick. Compared to my 600 f4i, the RR is a very fast bike.
