Bike runs great but between 5000 and 6000 RPM''s it acts like it is out of gas??

strang, that''s the RPM range I usually cruise in on the highway...it is fine > 6000??? three things I can think of without knowing more details: 1. A problem with the fuel delivery system (though this SHOULD be symptomatic above 6000 RPM as well) 2. Electrical, not enough juice...same as above 3. Airflow...I have seen something like this when the big rubber hoses were left off the airbox. Like the box is getting too much air / not enough fuel at that RPM level. 1 & 3 you can fix by removing that tank and airbox and just giving a good cleaning...make sure ALL hoses are in place, etc.
