I brought my bike up to my school for the past week or so becuase it has been nice and my car is in the shop, so i parked it in the school lot by my appartment in one of those yellow lined areas (it is about 20ft wide next to the garbage dunpsters)  because there were no more spots and the only other option was to park in a dirt/gravel lot about 1/2 a mile away.... and that wasnt happening. So anyway i put my bike under my cover thinking that i wont get a ticket cause my plate isnt showing and they cant go under my cover (which is strapped down). I come out today to take the bike out take off the cover and there are not one but TWO tickets sitting on my seat... issued 3hrs apart on the same day by the same "officer". Now my question/complaint is that i did not think taht someone could remove a cover to give a ticket (even police) because it is considered "breaking into" the vehicle (same priciple as a soft top cover on a wrangler), he did so not once but TWICE. So what are you guys thoughts?

p.s. on my campus they are NOT police but "public safety", they have virtually no athourity to make students do anything

Sorry for the long ass post

you gonna have to pay 1, not both of the tickets.  secondly if he would of done that to mine i would of jumped all over is azz and told him if he ever touched my bike/cover again i was gonna hang my foot so far up his azz that you would need a search warrant to get it back.

I have been ticketed for similar situations on campus, when I attended college.  It was also issued by the campus security.  I did not have to pay because there was no designated Motorcycle Parking areas.  I actually spoke to the dean of students about the matter, don''t know if you want to take it that far, but I did.

I do not know about the issue with the cover.

Thats tricky there man. You will deff not have to pay both tickets, only 1 per day. but i dont know anything about the touching of the cover and shyt. If you complain too much they might just tow it next time for being parked illegally, which will most likely end up much worse and more expensive. Talk to your land lord and see if you can just park in the yard or next to the entrance or something.

Or make friends with somebody with a car and park in front of their car.  Or park inside.  Or get a locking cover.  Or get an alarm and ask the officer after he sets it off where he thinks you should park.  If he''s a jerk, go to the dean of students.  Bikes take up what, 4 feet of space width wise?  You could park on the grass, or sometimes even inside.  get creative here and let us know how it turns out

i rent a storage unit about a mile away from where i live. drive my truck there, ride, put the bike back and drive my truck back. if im going to be gone for an extended period of time i leave my truck on the road that the storage place is on and walk the 200 yards or so to my bike. Other than that can you park on the street or is it all metered parking? or permit parking?
