On my 01' 929 RR the red malfunction light and FI light came on. At the same time, the bike began running very poorly, it idols at a lower RPM than usual and the sound is a little different. My mechanic diagnosed it as being the servo motor. We changed it out with another, yet problem still exists. Another mechanic said it was the O2 sensor, when I ordered a new one, he went to put it on and informed me my bike doesn't have one- only the calif. models have them. He then told me that it might be the TP sensor, but he's not about to find out if he's right because I pulled my bike out of there. Any suggestions on what to do would help- does only calif. models have O2 sensors?

The FI light is also known as the MIL malfunction indicator lamp. I'd hope who ever is/was working on it checked to see if you had a code. When you turn the key on, does the FI/MIL light flash? Count the long flashes as ten and the quick flashes as one and let me know what your code is. I'll look it up in your shop manual.

Shop manual available (click here) Pages 5-12 and 5-13 are where the codes are.

The code is 35. It points back at it being either servo motor or EGCV related. Thanks for the manual.
