Ok, heres the problem, the lock on the underside of the tail which opens the "trunk" is so damn hard to open. its all loose and when i open the thing it bends my key. Problem is, the lock inside is only attached with a clip which i can't really adjust to make it work right. any ideas?

Mine was very hard to open when I first got it...... all I did was spray some lock stuff in thier. Kinda loosened it up and makes it easier to turn. Is it something like that? LJ

i dont remember my lock being hard at all. remove the clip and take out the cylinder. does the cylinder turn easily with the key in it? look at the seat release. close the seat without the cylinder in it. from the right side of the bike stick your finger inside the hole where the cylinder use to be and press on the latch. does the seat pop open easily?

My problem is when the key is in the cylinder for the lock, the cylinder moves around. and it angles from side to side. in other words, it has a LOT of slop in it. because of the slop the mechanism inside which pops open the seat is not aligned correctly. Because of this i need to turn the key harder and move the key around a bit to get it to open. i would like to epoxy the thing in there, but in order to get the tail section off the cylinder needs to come out. I am stumped here. but this needs to be fixed.. over time my key WILL break off. my only key As for the spray, i did that as a "what the hell" kind of try. and no it didn't help. the lock works 100%, its the way its mounted. Now i am not sure how its mounted stock, but the bike came with a hotbodies undertail.

i was having the same problem and actually ended up breaking my only key off inside the lock.. i took it to the dealer and nobody could make me a sportbike key?? i dont understand why my dealer couldnt do it, but whatever.. so i took it to another lock place and the matched up the two pieces and it worked, they then sook the cylinder out and cleaned up the insides a little bit and it works fine now! so my advide would be if you can get the cylinder out, then take it and get it cleaned up, other than that i dont know?? hope it helps!

AHHAAA, i figured it out! That damn hotbodies undertail is to blame. Seems one of the screws vibrated out or something and the right side is sagging a little bit. by doing so it shifted everything around. when i hold the undertail up to where it is supposed to be, everything works like a charm. good as new. Thank you all for your advice. Love you guys!
