What the go with steel cap boots

I was told that it's a no no, but I'm not sure?

If you are talking about those elastic sided ones then they are a no no. when you come off the centrifical force will flig them off. If they dont then the 1mm of elestic between your ankle done and the ground wont be of much help.

But if you are talking about the lace up ones then they are ok to use.

Cool, a guy at a bike shop told me that if you come off, the steel caps can bend back and take your toes off
But he was also a bit of a wank, so I wasn’t sure if he was right or not
