I have been looking for a pair of pants that have good abrasion and impact protection, but are also decent enough to be seen in. Doesn't anyone make something like that? For example use some abrasion-resistant fabric and have jeans material on top of it or something? I know about stuff like Dragging Jeans, but I've read they're not up to snuff.

Or even the shape of the pants, why do they have to be so tight, especially at the bottom? I am guessing so they don't ride up, but then couldn't you have an inner and an outer layer, the inner being tight and the outer normal? Or is it because loose pants might get caught somewhere?

In any case, for anyone that has faced the same questions as me, what kind of pants did you settle on?

icon ones look aight...but fact is...all of these jeans will make you look thilly in a crowd...
so if you going to wear jeans, just wear them...and don't ride like a mawfaki and all hardcore...

you're right, the tightness is to prevent them from rolling up...that's why when i ride with jeans...i bust out mah Jordache jeans moms bought me in 1984....cause they so hot and sexy and tight and won't ride up fo sho!

It may sound a bit goofy, but seriously, research it.

...paintball pants...

Now I know what you're thinking, but I've played paintball for quite some time and those pants are MADE for sliding around on various types of ground surface for long periods of time. They've got padding exactly where we'd need padding if you buy the good ones and they look ****in bad ass. 99% of all paintball pants are somewhat baggy and most give you the usual color choice(red, blue, yellow, black, gray), so matching your bike or other gear shouldn't be too hard.

on a serious note...you don't want baggy because pads will move around, etc...you want them to be where they're supposed to be. also when fabric moves around...in a slide, etc...it will give you textile burns...so it's gotta be snug.

it's ok about the jeans...chicks DIG them...so more chicks for me...and the crotch is probably too big for you anyway

I got the firstgear textile insulated pants for cold weather stuff. You can wear 'em commando or over pants. I was walking outta work earlier this week when some a$$ made a comment about my pants. Who cares - I'd rather look funny and have the protection than look "cool" and scrape my nads off in a slide. He's just pissed cause I always smoke his Buell

yo mang...your coworkers don't ride right? cause if they did they would know...so it's good, let's keep it that way.
the last thing we need is for posers to wear motorcycle pants to work and pretend to ride...

they always give schiznit about it cause they don't understand.
i used to commute in mah leathers...and get laughed at...but now i'm using some other riding pants...still full gear but just not my leather pants...and still get laughed at...but it's better than getting beat up by the asphalt like chain says.

if you're just chilling riding around town, i would just bust some jeans...but if you're commuting or going hardcoring it, then definitely riding pants.

The Icon Anthem and Standard pants are pretty baggy. The Standard jeans are pretty basic, none flashy. The blue anthem jeans have patches and stuff on them. They do make a black Anthem jean that looks pretty normal. They have a new Strong Arm pant, but I haven't seen them in person yet.

I like to wear baggy jeans and then some knee pads underneath. They stay snug on your legs but and you get the benifit of comfy jeans while out riding.
