cop wasnt in his car so he has no video support, he can only rely on witnesses but I don't think skool kids want to go to court and be on his side.
Just plead ur case saying he mistaken you for somebody else and you obey the law :)

or I would just go to court and say the front of my bike got pulled a few inches from the ground due to a small bump on the road which made my hand twist the throttle too much by accident. :)

2) you do not get arrested from wheeling.

well thats not true. wreckless driving means you go to jail in most states. it does not matter if he waited a week to come get ya too. every body thinks if your not stopped right away you can't get busted for it. not true. this is my field so i know. not alot to fight. once in court the judge is gonna believe a cop over a person with the ticket anyday, and i would not admitt anything on a public forum. it is real real real easy to trace down a person. ip address and all

Wreckless driving gets you jail time in communist states, not United States. This dude has some outstanding warrants or something. They knew who he was, and they knew where to find him. He didn't get arrested for a wheelie, no way. He got arrested for the warrant that was because unpaid fines or some other crazy stuff.

I'm a citizen of the US, so I consider it "my field" as well.

If the cop tries to lie on the stand, remind him that perjury is a seirous offense and ask him the same question again...

take this from a person that has been to court for many issues.

First of all, what state are you in? different states resolve things differently. I'm in NJ, so it very well could be different if you're in a different state that i am in.

The fact that you said you pulled a wheelie for a LONG time, means you can't use an excuse as in too much throttle.

The fact that your friend saw the cop and YOU doing the wheelie, means you have no alibi because once they call out your friends or anyone at school, you're done. Noone will lie for you in court because its their a$$ and i know of noone that would do that besides family. And i don't care how good of a friend he/she is, its not going to fly.

If you go to court and have a trial, here in NJ, if you are found guilty, there is NO PLEA BARGAIN ANYMORE. they will NOT drop anything but punish you to the FULL extent. Meaning the most fines, most license away time and what not. What i have done was just plea not guilty, go to court. IT DOES NOT DEPEND ON THE MOOD OF THE JUDGE, IT IS THE PROSECUTOR!!!! The judge will bascially go with WHATEVER the prosecutor says, i have not heard ONE case where the judge disagreed with the prosecutor in traffic court.

Explain to the prosecutor very nicely that you were dumb, and there was a girl that you liked was watching and thought maybe you can get a date if she saw you doing something so stupid that you will NEVER do again. If he's in a good mood, he will put out a little joke, and say, well did you get a date then?? or something of that nature, right there and then you know you are in good shape. Tally up ALL the points that he can give you. If its just fines, take them, hiring a lawyer most likely won't even get those dropped. A reckless driving ticket will most likely be dropped to a careless driving. IN nj, that is a 5 point to a 2 point ticket. If there are other tickets that involve points ask him if he will merge the tickets into one, meaning you only have to pay for the one ticket with points. The other ones that are just fines, he will make you pay them, you WILL not get those dropped or merged. What you are trying to do is MERGE THE ONES WITH POINTS. If the cop was an ass, which he probably is because he came in, took you out of school, and put you behind bars. He simply could of just wrote you all the tickets, mailed them to your house, and there was no need to arrest you. YOU DO NOT WANT THE COP TO BE IN THE COURT OR LET THE PROSECUTOR TALK TO THE OFFICER. It will only make things worse. A lawyer for this matter will probably be around $500-$800 dollars. PLUS you will still be paying all the fines and the lawyer WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET YOU OUT OF ALL TICKETS.

P.S. How old are you??? i'm guessing this is high school??

Depending on the degree of reckless driving in the state of washington and state of oregon can take you straight to jail i can post the WAC for ya if you want. In some areas of cal. they will impound and crush your bike for just a wheelie. my flield is law enforcement thats why i said that

alright, heres my 2 cents worth, do the crime do the time, regadless if there are whitnesses or not, vidieo footage or not, you admit you did in fact pull a wheelie in front of a cop, you are busted!! stop doing things that get you noticed by johnnie law, if you want to play be prepared to pay. not sure how old you are [iam sure you are sick of this one], but with time and experience comes a little wisdom iam 43 years old not the old timer but, old enuogh to have a little time under my belt, there is truth to the saying "young and dumb" ride alittle safer and alittle smarter it goes a long way. hope i did not piss in your "cherios" and make you upset that i dont agree with you that this cop is a "bad cop", out to get you personally. some do have a chip on their shoulders and some adittude, alot of them are just doing their jobs [ like busting law breakers] step up if you did somthing wrong it builds character , chicks dig character. okay all done.

Sorry to tell you bro, only way to beat it is to lawyer up. Sure lawyers aren't cheap, but you'd be surprised with the tricks they know.

I can't freaking believe some of the shit you guys are saying here....."**** the Police"??? Are you serious? You get caught doing something wrong, regardless how long it takes to catch up to you, and you simply replied "**** the Police"? Dude, you need to do some growing up.

If the cop lies on the stand remind him of perjury? Again, are you kidding me? How stupid do you think people are? Of course he understands the law he is a cop there is no reason to "remind" him. Sure there are some unfavorable police out there but 98% of other Law Enforcement have compassion about their job and do it honestly.

It is the attitude of some of the folks who have posted here which gives the "sport bike community" the name it has. As far as any of you know this could be part of the story. So far several people have asked this guy what the other tickets were and he has yet to reply. I am not saying he is dodging the question but come on find out the entire facts before you pass judgment on anyone.

The warrant theory is a very good one, it sounds like this could have happened before since you knew the cop was there and you did this act anyway. Might have some pending citations you haven't taken care of therefore, they turned warrant.

Then comes the part of being arrest at a later date. Most of you are right about being arrested days later on a misdemeanor violation. Most laws read you must effect the arrest during the on going investigation that day or work shift. A week later does not count. So there again the warrant theory even sounds better. As far as identity who is to say in the past the officer has seen this bike before, seen the rider remove is helmet or has given him a ticket in the past and knows who he is. In this case who cares if he had his helmet on during the violation the officer knows who he is from previous experience and that my friend will hold up in court.

Do us all a favor and list the charges on your arrest tag you were taken to jail on. In fact, did you even get booked in to the jail or were you simply arrested and then cited and released? If you go to court and fight it, this could come and bite you in the ass.

Oh and by the way, yes you CAN be arrested for doing a wheelie. If articulated this is grounds for wreck less driving which is an arrestable offense.

Personally, I would DEFINATELY get a lawyer. I got arrested in Atlanta for doing 130 through downtown on the interstate and the GSP caught me after about 15 miles. I wasn't running from him, I just didn't see him. He wrote me three tickets.

Wreckless Driving
103mph in a 55mph (he dropped it a bit)
and
Improper lane change.

Honestly, I don't know how he wrote me for improper lane change but it really doesn't matter.

The point is I got a lawyer and after about 6 months of going to court I got off with only the speeding ticket.

The court dropped the wreckless driving and the improper lane change.

The lawyer was $1000 and the fines were about $450. $1400-$1500 is MUCH MUCH cheaper than just paying the fines and the resulting insurance hikes.

What a lot of us here seem to forget is the power of CELL PHONES!! And, Motorola police radios. You might can easily outrun a Crown Vic on a CBR 600, but ya ain't gonna beat "Soccer Mom" on her cell phone and the dispatcher speaking to the officers via motorola.

I'd put hard cash on that's exactly what happened to you in Atlanta. Folks get ticked off by agressive riding / driving. They call it in these days trust me on this one. Between that and the traffic cameras all over the place with folks monitoring them, we're definitely under serveillance.

That's why I say....the road is no place to race. TAKE IT TO THE TRACK!!!

The officer told me I passed one of his off duty buddied with a NEXTEL. You are exactly right. I do agree with you about the road is no place to race. I just got a hair up my ass that day and paid for it.

We all have gotten "the need for speed" on the road. I still do at 47 yrs of age. However, I try to regularly schedule me some "track time" to take care of that. Plus, I do alot of simulator racing on XBox, Computer, etc. Helps meet the need.

It's a choice we're all given to make. I want to be a great driver / rider & show by example I'm responsible on the road, yet a force to be reckoned with on track.

Even Kurt Busch got this all wrong last year in Phoenix. He's paying for it too.

Take it to the track! The track makes you a better road rider & actually slows you down on the killer highways.

Go to the dean of students(assuming you are in college) tell him that you would rather take care of it through the school. This way you stay out of the court system. I go to school in small college town and lived in a frat, tons of guys there have ****ed up on campus(streaking, beer bonging in the administration lawn, panty raids.....) the dean has a ton of pull in the town and you can probably do a little community service for the school. No record! Let us know how it works out. Good luck. Oh yeah cops around here especially in the small town are worthless, got pulled over last week saying I failed to come to a complete stop at 2:30am out of Jack in the Box. Four cop cars! issued a field sobriety test and passed, took forever. Bullshit!

Good luck with all of this and next time you do something stupid, ask yourself 'Will it make me money or get me laid?' If the answer is 'no' to both, DON'T DO IT!!

Damn good advice! I have to remember this one.

Alright, Im only posting about this getting arrested thing.
In Illinois, you can get arrested for doing a wheelie. I was arrested for doing a highway wheelie that the cop didnt even see. A person that was trying to keep up with my copied my plate number and called the cops with a cell phone, telling them that I was heading to town. Just as soon as I got in town, I was arrested. The funny thing is, the cop had no way of hauling the bike so he let me ride it to the doughnut shop-whoops- cop shop. But I also had no legal tag nor did I have insurance on the bike. They tried saying that they could get the wheelie ticket on my and I argued with the cop telling him that i had 3 other people that would say I wasnt doing a wheelie and that the cop knew that it wouldnt hold up in court with that many alibi's. Anyways they ended up dropping everything but the insurance ticket because that gave me the biggest fine.

Anyways, you can get arrested for doing a wheelie. In my case, it was a 70 mph wheelie that stretched quite a ways.
