hey whats up everyone i was really close to getting a CBR600rr, i had about half the money saved up and and i was gonna finance the rest....and then i went to get a insurance quote for the bike at progressive and they told me it would cost $1500 a year if i paid it all off at once... (which i couldn't do) and it would cost a mother F****** $5000+ a year if i financed it.....what the hell!!!!is this normal and does anyone know where or how i could get much cheaper insurance like at least a 1000 bucks or less a year. any information would be MUCH APPRICIATED. thanks, Reece

ya its gon\ing to cost that much if you get full coverage. most people fro what i hear don't get full coverage unless they finance it and do pay out the ass for insurance. if you finance with the honda card you don't need full coverage.

It is all about the insurance co. , your driving record ,age and if you are married. A friend had to sell his gsxr 1000 because he financed it and had to carry full coverage($400.00 a month) ins was $150 more than the bike payment but then on the other hand i only pay $24.89 a month for full coverage on a 1994 900rr(state farm) and it is not just because the bike is old i called about a 2005 gsxr 1300 and it was $34.00 a month. good luck hope this helps

Man...do I feel you. Check it...Allstate and State Farm offer better rates. It really will depend on age, experience, engine cc's, etc. The best way to go with the big dawg insurance companies is to have a vehicle with the same company. That will allow the insurance company to give you a low policy because they think they'll have a hold of you if you total your bike and they have to pay for it. They'll just try to raise you premium on your vehicle...that's when you transfer to another insurance company.

That's the main reason I opted for the 600! They wanted a bundle for the 1000RR....More than my '04 Celica GTS!! I only have about 8 months of riding a year over here in NY so it's really not worth it to pay that much for 8 months on any vehicle!! I wouldn't put my bike insurance under the same company as my car because it's true that even if you get into a little fender bender with either vehicle, your insurance rates go up immensely

I have State Farm also, it is the cheapest I could find by a long shot. They also cover against accidental drops, or theft.

For me there are cheaper I am sure but it does depend on Age, Driving record, how long you have had you bike license, married, where in the country you live, and what policy you have with them. I am 29 , married, clean record, License for 12 years live in IL and pay just over 900.00 a year for full coverage on my 04 600RR. I use GEICO

I am about 18 miles east of St louis MO. Being in the military and living on base may have something to do with it I hear they charge us more. Also have the same coverage as my car at 100,000/300,000 with a low deductible so its not the base policy I am from NY so the fear for being sued has always been with me. You sure that 208.00 is not per month?

well i had shelter ins on my 05 600rr. Made sure to get it pre-approved before i bought the bike because if not i was going to try for an f4i if they wouldn't cover it since my hole family goes through the same guy and we get a better deal. They said it was approved and they would cover me. Paid the insurance, bought the bike, have had it for a month. They just sent me a letter today saying at the end of the month my insurance is cancelled. So i called them up. The reason for the sudden change of mind. RR they said that they didn't know it stood for race ready and they don't cover race vehicles. I gave them the vin, make and model. You think they could have figured it out. Sounds like state farm is going to get some more bussiness. I can think of a good name for Crooks Insurance companies. Only thing where you can pay for 10 years and never need it. One accident and they raise your rates, because you are know an inscurance risk. guess there not human.

positive that 208 is the year i pay 42/mo for bike and car. it could be that its the armed forces, i have a friend based in virginia and he pays alot for his car. and in ny i dont blame you for worring about being sued.

Drksidr I am sorry I ever doubted you man. I just got back from state Farm with a new policy. I went from 920.00 a year to 320.00 a year with the same 100,000/300,000 coverage and a 250.00 deductible. Thanks for the secret. Also re financed my bike there Honda was charging me over 7% interest on my bike and State Farm dropped it to just over 5% interest so saves my about 1,000 over the course of the loan. I did find out why they do the rates like they do. GEICO, Progressive, and others rate your policy on the stats of the bike so say all those teens that go out and think they are pro stunt riders destroy there bikes and people like you and I have to pay for that. State Farm goes by you and you alone Age, Married, Riding exp, Claims Location. Not other riders. Anyway thanks again now I can afford some accessories when I get my GEICO refund.

Yeah the Ins. on bikes sure is high if your leasing your bike. I'm with Progressive and I pay about $350 a month and I'm 23.
